Castle Rock Beach

Located in the city of Malibu, Castle Rock Beach is an iconic beach situated along Pacific Coast Highway and is a popular picnicking destination. A 30-foot-tall rock named Castle Rock stood as a landmark between the beach and the mountains on the other side of the highway before the rock’s demolition in 1945.  Castle Rock Beach is half-a-kilometer in length and provides restroom facilities. Swimming is the only activity available at the beach. Castle Rock Beach is conveniently located off 17750 Pacific Coast Highway that provides an easy access to the beach. There is free parking along Pacific Coast Highway.

If you get hungry, there are many restaurants within a three-minute drive of Castle Rock Beach. If you are looking for an upscale restaurant, the always-crowded Mastro's Ocean Club is situated on nearby Topanga Beach, and features seafood and the well-renowned 24-ounce Porterhouse steak – it was also mentioned in "The 100 Most Scenic Restaurants in the US" by Business Insider. If you like Thai food, Cholada Thai Beach Cuisine is a vegetarian-friendly beachside eatery on Pacific Coast Highway that serves Thai curries, noodles, and salads. Another good restaurant is Reel Inn Malibu which offers many seafood dishes including oysters, shrimps, groupers, and fish at very reasonable prices.

If you are looking for a hotel near Castle Rock Beach, you can drive nine-minutes to Nobu Ryokan Malibu, an intimate, 16-room 5-Star, very expensive, and private beachfront hotel with Asian-themed rooms and a small gym. The upscale 4-Star hotel Malibu Beach Inn has many amenities including a bar, spa, and restaurant – it is located on Carbon Beach, which has been nicknamed Billionaires’ Beach due to the many ultrawealthy homeowners and incredibly expensive homes there (In 2019, one home was sold $110 million.) The Surfrider Hotel, Malibu is a 4-Star hotel featuring a lounge, rooftop bar, and restaurant. Another option is the pet-friendly and affordable hotel Malibu Country Inn which has a pool and an outdoor fireplace.
