Located in the town of Ferndale, Guthrie Creek Beach is a long, wide, and rarely-visited beach that is backed by headlands and cliffs – and is situated at the mouth of Guthrie Creek. Also known as Lost Coast Headlands, Guthrie Creek Beach was added to California Coastal National Monument by President Barack Obama in 2016. Guthrie Creek Beach is a dog-friendly beach and offers many amenities including restrooms, driftwoods, hiking trails, and fossils. There are a couple of fun activities at Guthrie Creek Beach including hiking, birdwatching, and beachcombing. To access Guthrie Creek Beach, drive down to 8028 Centerville Road where you will find a free parking lot near Guthrie Creek Trailhead. After parking, you will need to walk 15 minutes along the trail to reach the beach. Please note that the Bureau of Land Management has labeled the last section of the trail as unstable so be careful towards the end.
