Overview
Located near the mouth of the Klamath River, Klamath Beach is a large beach with pebbles and gray sand. The beach is a sand-spit that separates the Klamath River and the Pacific Ocean. The Klamath River occasionally flows into the Pacific Ocean through this beach. Klamath Beach also has a fantastic background of the mountainous Del Norte County landscape.

The Klamath River behind the beach has calm water which is ideal for beginner swimmers, kayakers, canoers, and paddle boarders. Parking
Getting to Klamath Beach is easy- from United States Highway 101, you need to turn towards Klamath Beach Road via Exit - 768 (also known as the Klamath Beach Road Exit) which is just south of the town of Klamath. From this exit, you need to continue on Klamath Beach Road and stop just before this road turns south and merges into Coastal Drive. There is an access trail for Klamath Beach present near this spot, along with a free parking lot. The access trail passes through a local Native American ceremonial site known as the Yurok Ceremonial Grounds and finally leads to Klamath Beach. We recommend visiting this beach during low tide as during high tide the access trail to the beach can be flooded and you might need to wade across the water to get to Klamath Beach. We recommend visiting this beach wearing appropriate footwear as this beach is known to have lots of driftwood.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Klamath Beach. Yurok Country Visitor Center has interesting exhibits on the history and culture of the Native American Yurok people. The Klamath River Overlook offers magnificent views of the Klamath River mouth, the Pacific Ocean, and the northern California shoreline. This overlook also has picnic tables and interesting interpretive displays on the regional history and biodiversity. In addition, this overlook is also a great wildlife watching spot. If you are looking for another attraction near Klamath Beach, Klamath River Radar Station (also known as Radar Station B-71) is an important historical landmark. Klamath River Radar Station was an early warning radar station used by the United States Armed Forces during World War Two. This station was actually disguised to look like an ordinary farmhouse to avoid detection by the enemy. It is currently a part of the United States National Register of Historic Places.
