Located in the town of Inverness, Marshall Beach is situated on the shores of Tomales Bay in the northern part of Point Reyes National Seashore. Marshall Beach has a nice campground and is a popular destination for kayaking. Marshall Beach welcomes dogs if brought in by boat and offers a few amenities including restrooms and a boat-in campground that does not provide drinking water and all human waste must be carried out of it. 

There are a couple of fun activities at Marshall Beach including kayaking, boating, hiking, and mountain biking. 

Getting to Marshall Beach is easy – after you get off of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, drive down to the end of Marshall Beach Road to a free parking area north of Tomales Bay State Park right next to a trailhead. After parking, you must hike north for a mile to reach Marshall Beach. The beach can also be accessed through water – visitors can rent a boat or kayak from Nick’s Cove and Lawson’s Landing Beach.

If you are looking for nearby attractions, you can drive 50 minutes to many options near Marshall Beach. Sonoma County Fairgrounds offers a horse-racing track, jockey club, carnival rides, several open-air amphitheaters. It hosts many annual events including the Sonoma County Fair, The Harmony Festival, and The Sonoma Valley Harvest Fair – a wine festival with a grape stomping contest. The famous road course Sonoma Raceway plays host to many annual racing events including the NASCAR Cup Series, the IndyCar Series, the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, and the American Federation of Motorcyclists series. Scandia Family Fun Center is an awesome amusement park featuring many rides including a pirate ship swing, train ride, merry-go-round swings, horse carousel, go-karts, and bumper cars. Another great attraction near Marshall Beach is Saint Teresa of Avila Church that has been the setting for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 film, The Birds.

If you get hungry, there are many restaurants within a 30-minute drive of Marshall Beach. The seafood restaurant Fishetarian Fish Market features seafood items, chips, bacon, sandwiches, beer, and picnic tables. William Tell House features onion rings, chowder, French fries, live music, and an outdoor patio setting. Another good restaurant near Marshall Beach is Drakes Sonoma Coast that was mentioned in "Top 10 Fine Dining Restaurants" by Sonoma County Tourism.

If you are looking for a hotel near Marshall Beach, you can drive 40 minutes to many nearby hotels. The upscale Mediterranean-style and pet-friendly 4-Star hotel Sonoma Coast Villa features a pool, spa, restaurant, miniature golf course, and hiking tours. Bodega Coast Inn & Suites is a 3-Star waterfront hotel that welcomes pets and offers canoeing, diving, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, snorkeling, and windsurfing tours. If you are looking for a budget-friendly hotel near Marshall Beach, the 2-Star Good Nite Inn Rohnert Park Sonoma County has a nice pool.
