Abbotts Lagoon Beach is a beautiful beach located in the Point Reyes National Seashore in Inverness, United States. The beach is about a mile long and features soft white sand.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Abbotts Lagoon Beach.  Saltwater Oyster Depot is an upscale restaurant that serves delicious oysters, seafood, and gourmet dishes.  Point Reyes Roadhouse serves burgers, sandwiches, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Vladimir's Czech Restaurant serves amazing soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, pork, and poultry dishes.  Tony's Seafood Restaurant offers outdoor seating and serves incredible soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, pasta, tacos, and oysters.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant nearby, Tap Room serves delicious salads, soups, sushi, tacos, nachos, sashimi, and burgers.

If you are looking for a hotel near Abbotts Lagoon Beach, there are many great nearby options.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 4-Star Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa is one hour and five minutes away by car and offers several amenities including a spa, a fitness center, and an Italian restaurant.  A more affordable hotel is the 3-Star Holiday Inn Express Mill Valley, which offers many amenities including a fitness center, an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a patio with a fire pit, a restaurant, and complimentary breakfast.  Another moderately priced option is the bayfront 3-Star Tomales Bay Resort & Marina, which has a few amenities including an outdoor pool and a boat launch.  A more reasonably priced option is the 3-Star Olema House, which has a few amenities, including a cafe, a game room, a garden, and complimentary breakfast.  If you are looking for another good and affordable hotel nearby, the 3-Star Lodge at Marconi has a few amenities including an outdoor sitting area with fire pits, comfortable rooms, and a dining area.

Abbotts Lagoon Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, except vault toilets at the parking lot, so plan your trip accordingly.

Abbotts Lagoon Beach offers many fun activities, including sunbathing, hiking, fishing, swimming, and wildlife watching.  If you plan to go into the water near the beach, we recommend being extremely careful, as the water here is known to have pounding waves and unpredictable rip currents.  Hikers can explore the nearby one-and-a-half-mile-long Abbotts Lagoon Trailhead, which provides unique insights into the local biodiversity.  If you plan to fish in the waters near Abbotts Lagoon Beach, anglers may catch sticklebacks and steelhead trout, but please ensure that you comply with the local fishing regulations.  Depending on the time of year, visitors may spot sea lions, dolphins, seals, whales, river otters, and many native birds, including cormorants, gulls, golden eagles, American goldfinches, herons, pelicans, plovers, sandpipers, woodpeckers, vultures, quail, hummingbirds, and ducks in the surrounding waters.  Abbotts Lagoon Beach is known for pristine waters, untouched natural beauty, diverse landscapes, abundant wildlife, and a tranquil environment, making it a perfect location for capturing photos.  Dogs are not allowed on the beach, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Abbotts Lagoon Beach, New Zealand, does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Abbotts Lagoon Beach is difficult - the beach has a free parking lot located at 4101 Pierce Point Road near Bear Valley Visitor Center.  After parking, visitors have to hike on the one-and-a-half miles of Abbotts Lagoon Trailhead to access the beach.

Abbotts Lagoon is named after two brothers, John Abbott and Carlisle Abbott, who were local ranchers that leased the nearby area for dairy ranching in the mid-1800s.

There are many attractions near Abbotts Lagoon Beach.  The Abbotts Lagoon Trailhead is a one-and-a-half-mile-long, easy hiking trail that meanders through wooden bridges, a wooden boardwalk, dirt paths, grasslands, coastal scrub, and two nearby ranches, namely I Ranch and H Ranch, leading to Abbotts Lagoon Beach.  It is an ideal spot for birdwatching and soaking in the natural beauty of Point Reyes National Seashore.  Bolinas Museum is a small museum that has a gallery featuring interesting exhibits, collections of fine art and historical objects, and thousands of archives and photographs on the local history of northern California and Marin County.  Alamere Falls is a beautiful 40-foot waterfall that cascades down a blufftop area onto the south end of Wildcat Beach and empties into the Pacific Ocean, offering spectacular views.  Elephant Seal Overlook is a vista point where visitors can spot the colony of rare elephant seals and many other animals, including sea lions, dolphins, and whales, between December and April.  If you are looking for another attraction nearby, the Earthquake Trail is a small hiking trail located within Point Reyes National Seashore that allows hikers to explore the San Andreas Fault zone, where the North American and Pacific plates collide and where visitors can observe forces of change.  It also provides information about the damage done to the local landscape during the San Francisco earthquake in 1906.  It has many amenities, including restrooms, picnic areas, two parking lots, and access for people with disabilities.
