Caspar Headlands State Beach offers many fun activities including beachcombing, fishing, sunbathing, swimming, wildlife watching, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodysurfing, boogie boarding, kayaking, canoeing, snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, jet-skiing, hiking, and camping. The water near Caspar Headlands State Beach is safer and more suitable for recreational aquatic activities as compared to other Mendocino County beaches. However, we still recommend being careful while going in the water near Caspar Headlands State Beach as it is really cold and water conditions can change unpredictably near the beach. The water near the beach is home to many animals including seals, sea lions, migrating grey whales (between December and April). If you like birdwatching, you can find many shorebirds and ospreys near the beach. Another popular activity in Caspar Headlands State Beach is fishing - depending on the time of the year, you can catch a large array of fish in the water near the beach including salmon and steelhead.
If you like hiking, there are hiking trails near the northern part of the beach, which offers Instagram-worthy views of the Pacific Ocean and the rugged Mendocino County shoreline. Towards the south of Caspar, Headlands State Beach is another state park called Caspar Headlands State Natural Reserve that has hiking trails via which you can explore the marvelous blufftop area around the town of Caspar. This state park also offers incredible views of Caspar Headlands State Beach and the surrounding coastline. If you like camping, Caspar Beach RV Park and Camp Ground is situated adjacent to the beach and accommodates RVs and tents. In addition, the campground also offers accommodation in cabins. This campground offers many amenities including a cleaning station and water and electricity hook-ups for RVs, wifi, showers, a convenience store, an internet cafe, and a game room.
