Es Portitxol

Located within the city of Palma on the north-western coast of Ibiza, Es Portitxol is a small pebbly cove with a few portions of white sand.  The cove is positioned in a sheltered inlet that is surrounded by pine-covered hills with several fishermen's huts and dry docks.

Getting to Es Portitxol is difficult - visitors have to drive towards Sant Miquel and get off at the road to Sant Mateu until you reach the residential area “Isla Blanca.”  There are a few free street parking spots located at Carrer Sn 81, and from a bend in this track, a path goes off to Es Portitxol, with a long, steep descent to the sea.  Visitors have to hike northeast for around 40 minutes on this dirt path to access the beach.

Es Portitxol means "the tiny port'' in Catalan, referring to something that is small coves or natural inlets located along the coast.  This hidden cove offers incredible views of the vast ocean, especially during sunsets.

There are many attractions near Es Portitxol.  Cova de Can Marca is a natural cave formed millions of years ago by the action of water on limestone rock with a series of chambers, stalactites, and stalagmites.  Visitors can also enjoy a waterfall light show and interesting guided tours to explore these geological wonders.  Punta Moscarter Lighthouse is positioned on the northernmost point of Ibiza, on rugged cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
