Praia Da Ponta Pequena

Located in the city of Albufeira, in the southern Algarve region, Praia da Ponta Pequena is a small beige sand beach with many rocky portions.  This hidden, sheltered beach is nestled between rocky headlands and is adjacent to the famous Praia dos Piratas and Praia da Ponta Grande.  The beach has a beautiful background of rocky cliffs, hidden coves, and coastal vegetation, which together provide Instagram-worthy views of the vast North Atlantic Ocean.  The beach features a natural arch and a small grotto located to the east of the beach, which provides access to a nearby strip of sand, while the small cave, with a hole in the roof offering a view of the sky, adds allure to its beauty and makes it a picturesque spot.

Praia da Ponta Pequena does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, so plan your trip accordingly.

Praia da Ponta Pequena offers several fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, diving, tidepooling, and hiking.  If you are planning to go into the water, it is a naturally sheltered bay, making it a perfect spot for swimming, especially during the summer.  However, it is worth noting that the Ponta Pequena surf completely submerged the beach during high tide, so we recommend being cautious.  The water near the beach is shallow, which is ideal for canoes, kayaks, and small boats.   Snorkelers and divers may spot an array of marine life, making it a fascinating spot for nature enthusiasts.  The beach is a perfect spot for windsurfing due to its frequently windy weather and great waves.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  It is perfect for visitors looking for a quiet beach experience, as this beach sees fewer visitors than other nearby beaches.  Dogs are allowed here if they are on a leash, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Praia da Ponta Pequena does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Praia da Ponta Pequena is difficult - the beach has a few parking spots located at the end of R. de Joao Guita 103A, which is easily accessible via State Road M526.  After parking, visitors have to hike down a rugged path to access the beach.
