Located in the city of Albufeira, in the southern Algarve region, Praia Da Ponta Grande - also known as Praia do Buraco - is a small and thin beige sand beach with many rocky portions.  This small, sheltered cove is tucked between two rocky headlands and is adjacent to the famous Praia do Ninho de Andorinha and Plaza del Risco.   It has a beautiful background of rocky cliffs, hidden coves, and coastal vegetation, which together provide Instagram-worthy views of the vast North Atlantic Ocean.  It is important to note that these rugged cliffs at the beach are subject to erosion, so we recommend being careful while below, as there is a possibility of falling rocks and stones.

Praia Da Ponta Grande does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, so plan your trip accordingly.

Praia Da Ponta Grande offers several fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, sea kayaking, and hiking.  If you are planning to go into the water, it is a naturally sheltered bay, making it a perfect spot for swimming.  The water near the beach is shallow, which is ideal for canoes, kayaks, and small boats.  The beach offers amazing opportunities for snorkelers and divers to explore the underwater world.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  There is a point on a cliff known for taking the best Praia Da Ponta Grande pictures.  It is perfect for visitors looking for a serene experience, as this beach sees fewer visitors than other nearby beaches.  Dogs are allowed here if they are on a leash, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Praia Da Ponta Grande does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Praia Da Ponta Grande is easy - the beach has a few parking spots located at the end of R. de Joao Guita 8200, Albufeira, which is easily accessible via State Road M526.  After parking, visitors have to hike down a rugged path to access the beach.
