Praia Da Coelha

Located in the village resort of Sesmarias, in the city of Albufeira, in the southern Algarve region, Praia da Coelha is a small beige sand beach with many rocky portions.  The beach has a beautiful backdrop of coastal vegetation, rocky outcrops, a restaurant, several small hidden coves, and a unique natural arch positioned on the west side of the beach, which together provide Instagram-worthy views of the vast North Atlantic Ocean.  It is important to note that the rugged cliffs at the beach are subject to erosion, so we recommend being careful while below, as there is a possibility of falling rocks and stones.  The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag certification due to its cleanliness and water quality standards.

Praia da Coelha has many amenities, including seasonal lifeguards, restrooms, changing rooms, shady areas, a restaurant with therapeutic massage services, parasols and sunbed rental facilities, and trash cans.

Praia da Coelha offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, picnicking,hiking, and diving.  If you are planning to go into the water, it is a naturally sheltered bay where the middle and eastern sections of the beach are ideal for swimming.  The beach offers amazing opportunities for snorkelers and divers to explore the underwater world.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  It is perfect for visitors looking for a quiet experience, but it is popular among locals who frequently visit this beach, especially during the weekend.  Dogs are not allowed on the beach, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Praia da Coelha does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Praia da Coelha is easy - the beach has a few parking spots located near Aldeamento Happymag 6, Albufeira, which is easily accessible via State Road M526. After parking, visitors have to walk for five minutes on a rugged path to access the beach.

Interestingly, the name Praia da Coelha translates to "beach of the female rabbit," but there are no rabbits on the shore. However, you can see a man-made sign of a rabbit when you enter the beach.

Praia da Coelha is a perfect place to watch the sunset over the Albufeira shoreline.

There are many attractions near Praia da Coelha.  Zoomarine Algarve is a popular marine theme park that offers interesting dolphin shows, sea lion presentations, tropical bird performances, and educational exhibitions focused on protecting marine life and promoting environmental awareness.  In addition, visitors can also enjoy a mini-roller coaster, carousel, giant wheel,water slides, swimming pools, and other recreational facilities.  The Castle of Paderne is a well-preserved 12th-century Moorish fortress that features crenelated walls, towers, and a central courtyard.  It offers a unique glimpse into medieval history and provides panoramic views of the town of Albufeira and the Quarteira River.  Marina de Albufeira is a family-friendly recreational area that offers many amenities, including restaurants, bars, swimming pools, shops, a promenade, and water sports activities.  Visitors can enjoy boat trips and stroll along the promenade.  

Aqualand Algarve is a family-friendly water park that features many thrilling water slides, wave pools, a lazy river, and splash pools.  It offers many other amenities, including restaurants, snack bars, picnic areas, sun loungers, parasol rental facilities, and locker rental services.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Albufeira Old Town is located in the central part of the city and is well-known for its narrow cobblestone streets, buildings adorned with colorful trim, churches, museums, and traditional Portuguese architecture.  In addition, it offers a unique blend of history, culture, dining, and entertainment, making it a must-visit destination for tourists exploring the Algarve region of Portugal.
