Resort Beach offers many fun activities
including sunbathing, beachcombing, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, surfing,
kitesurfing, windsurfing, parasailing, bodysurfing, bodyboarding,
paddleboarding, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, wakeboarding, boating, kayaking,
canoeing, and wildlife watching.
The southern portion of Resort Beach – particularly the Virginia Beach
Fishing Pier and Grommet Island Park – is popular with surfers because the water here occasionally
offers fun surfing waves. In addition,
an annual popular surfing contest named “Shoot The Pier” is also organized near
the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier.
If you are planning to swim, surf,
kayak, canoe, or paddleboard near Resort Beach, we recommend being careful
because the water here can have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.
Please also note that it is prohibited
to swim within 200 feet of the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier. If you are planning to launch your kayak,
canoe, surf-ski, or any other boat from Resort Beach, please visit the city of
Virginia Beach’s website for more information on the local
seasonal boat launching and landing restrictions.
If you like fishing, Virginia Beach
Fishing Pier –
located in the southern part of Resort Beach – is an ideal fishing site and you
can catch many kinds of fish from here.
If you are planning to fish from Virginia Beach Fishing Pier, please
note that this pier is open between April and October and non-local residents
need to pay a $12 fee for fishing here.
If you like taking pictures with amazing views, Resort Beach also offers
amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Atlantic Ocean, particularly during sunrise
and sunset.
