Overview
Located in the community of Chic’s Beach, Chic’s Beach – also called Chick’s Beach, Chix Beach, and Chesapeake Beach – is a small beach with light brown sand in northern Virginia Beach. This beach is a part of a larger beach named Chesapeake Bay Beach.
Amenities
Chic’s Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, so please plan accordingly.
Dogs on leash are allowed at Chic’s Beach before 10 am and after 6 pm between the Friday preceding Memorial Day and the Labor Day weekend. Dogs on leash are allowed on Chic’s Beach at any time for the rest of the year.

Chic’s Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, fishing, hiking, swimming, paddleboarding, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, skimboarding, jet-skiing, water-skiing, wakeboarding, parasailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, wildlife watching, surf-skiing, kayaking, and canoeing.
Chic’s Beach is ideal for beginner swimmers, kayakers, canoers, and paddleboarders because the water here usually has gentle waves. In addition, the water at Chic’s Beach also offers great waves for surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing on very rare occasions. If you are planning to swim, kayak, surf, paddleboard, or snorkel near Chic’s Beach, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.
If you like taking pictures with amazing views, Chic’s Beach offers excellent Instagram-worthy views of the Chesapeake Bay, the nearby Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and the northern Virginia Beach shoreline, particularly during sunsets and sunrise.

Chic’s Beach is easy – this beach is easily accessible from United States Highway 60
through Lookout Road. There are a few
free street parking spaces nearby.

This beach and the residential community received their name – Chic’s Beach – from a local food stand named Chic’s that used to operate here in the past.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Chic’s Beach. Norfolk Botanical Garden is a 155-acre botanical garden that offers many smaller beautiful themed gardens including a Japanese garden, a hydrangea garden, a children’s garden, and a native plant garden. The garden also has a butterfly house, picnic areas, playground, and a gift shop. First Landing State Park is a coastal state park that has two beaches named First Landing Beach and The Narrows Beach and it has many amazing habitats including maritime forests, wetlands, and lagoons. In addition, this state park also has many other fun things to explore including the Chesapeake Bay Center that contains interesting exhibitions, a campground, a few historic buildings, and two gift shops. Cape Henry Lighthouses are a pair of historic lighthouses that were 1792 and 1881. These lighthouses offer an interesting insight into Virginia Beach’s history – in addition, one of the lighthouses is also open to the public and offers amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Pleasure House Point Natural Area is a 118-acre recreational area that has many kinds of habitats including tidal marshes and maritime forests and it offers many fun activities including boating, wildlife watching, hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. You can see many animal species here including many migrant and resident birds, turtles, crabs, oysters, and amphibians. If you are looking for another attraction near Chic’s Beach, Bayville Farms Park is a recreational park that offers many fun activities including a disc golf course, tennis courts, basketball courts, softball fields, picnic areas, charcoal grills, shuffleboard courts, a playground, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, walking paths, restrooms, and picnic tables.

Hot Tuna is a restaurant that is known for serving amazing and fresh seafood including ahi tuna, crab soup, crab dips, and seafood tacos and it also serves excellent burgers, salads, and steaks – this restaurant also offers refreshing alcoholic beverages. Steinhilber’s is an upscale restaurant that is known for serving excellent steaks and seafood, along with a variety of other seasonal dishes including roast chicken, soup, and cottage pie. The Atlantic – also called The Atlantic on Pacific – offers delicious seafood from the Eastern and Western Coast of the United States including oysters, lobsters, and crabs – this restaurant also offers excellent burgers, Southern-style dishes, pasta, and Asian dishes. Shorebreak Pizza & Taphouse offers excellent pizzas, along with a variety of other dishes including burgers, salads, chicken wings, tacos, and sandwiches – this restaurant also offers excellent beer.
