Overview
Located in the city of Rockport in Texas, Rockport Beach – also called Rockport Beach Park – is a curve-shaped mile-long beach with light brown sand. This beach has received the Blue Wave certification by the Clean Beaches Coalition because of its cleanliness – this beach was one of the first beaches in Texas to receive this certification. This beach was also listed as one of the “The Best Beaches in Texas for Surfing, Kayaking, and More” by Conde Nast Traveller and it was also listed as one of the “The 10 Best Beaches In Texas To Visit” by Southern Living magazine.
Rockport Beach is usually open between 6 am and 11 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays, this beach is open between 6 am and 12 am.
Amenities
Rockport Beach does not have lifeguards. However, this beach offers many amenities including picnic tables, volleyball courts, pavilions, grassy recreational areas, boat launch areas, cabanas, a nearby saltwater swimming pool, barbecue areas, multiple fishing piers, boat ramps, children’s play areas, observation areas, showers, and restrooms.
Dogs are not allowed here.

Rockport Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, swimming, picnicking, fishing, paddleboarding, jet-skiing, boating, water-skiing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, parasailing, volleyball, kayaking, canoeing, surf-skiing, and wildlife watching.
Rockport Beach is ideal for beginner swimmers, kayakers, and canoers because the mostly shallow water here is usually calm. If you are planning to swim, kayak, or paddleboard here, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves. In addition, activities involving wind-powered water sports equipment including kitesurfing and windsurfing are prohibited here in summers.
If you like fishing, this beach is a popular fishing site and you can catch many kinds of fish here. This beach is popular with birdwatchers and you can see many kinds of birds here. If you like taking pictures with excellent views, there is a walking trail near the beach that offers amazing views of the Southern Texas shoreline and the Gulf of Mexico. If you like shopping, there are multiple shopping stores near Rockport Beach that offer a fun shopping experience.

Parking
Getting to Rockport Beach is easy – the entrance gate for this beach is located near 210 Seabreeze Drive. There is a paid parking lot nearby – the parking pass here costs $10 per day and $40 per year. In addition to the paid parking lot, there are multiple free street parking spaces near the beach’s entrance.
We recommend visiting this beach early because this beach can sometimes get crowded, particularly during weekends.

The area around Rockport Beach hosts many fun events including the Fulton Oyster Festival, the Rockport Art Festival, a monthly market named the Rockport Fulton Market Days, and the Rockport Wine Festival.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Rockport Beach within a 20-minute-drive. Fulton Mansion State Historic Site is a historic site that has a beautiful Second Empire-style historic house which was built in 1877 – this mansion has a beautiful garden and it also offers an interesting insight into the local history. Goose Island State Park is a 321-acre state park that offers many fun activities including camping, fishing, hiking, wildlife watching, geocaching, and kayaking. This state park has an oak tree named the Big Tree that is apparently 1,000 years old and it also offers many amenities including boat ramps, a pier, showers, picnic areas, restrooms, boat rentals, and hiking trails. The Texas Maritime Museum is a museum that has interesting exhibitions on maritime navigation, the local energy industry, and local history. In addition, the museum also has a collection of fishing rods and it also has a library. Fulton Harbor Park is a recreational park that offers many amenities including a fishing pier, a playground, grassy recreational areas, picnic areas, and restrooms. If you are looking for another attraction near the beach, Rockport Center for the Arts offers interesting artistic exhibitions and it also offers workshops and classes – this museum also has a sculpture garden.

La Arandina Cocina & Cantina is a Mexican restaurant that offers many amazing Mexican dishes including fajitas, tacos, tamales, and enchiladas. Latitude 28°02' is an upscale restaurant that offers amazing Coastal cuisine including seafood, salads, poultry dishes, and pasta – this restaurant also exhibits interesting artworks. The Boiling Pot is known for serving delicious Cajun-style seafood. Panjo’s Pizza is known for serving excellent pizzas and it also offers delicious burgers, salads, pastas, and chicken dishes. If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Rockport Bakery offers a variety of delicious dishes including fried chicken livers, pork chop, hash browns, sandwiches, Mexican dishes, and burgers.
