Located in the city of Hendersonville in Sumner County, Lock 3 Beach - also known as Lock 3 Recreation Area, is a small beige sand beach with many rocky portions.  The beach is positioned along the Cumberland River and offers incredible views of the Old Hickory Dam, especially during sunset.

Lock 3 Beach does not have lifeguards but offers many other amenities, including restrooms, showers, a boat launch facility, picnic areas, picnic tables, a barbecue grill facility, benches, and trash cans.

Lock 3 Beach offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, picnicking, fishing, and hiking.  If you are planning to go into the water, it has a safe, roped-off swimming area.  The water near the beach is shallow, making it ideal for kayaks, canoes, and small boats.  It is an ideal spot for fishing – anglers may catch a wide variety of fish here. Lock 3 Beach is a perfect place to relax and unwind.  Dogs are welcome on the beach if they are on leash, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Lock 3 Beach does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Lock 3 Beach is easy - the beach has many street parking spots located at 199-185 Lock 3 Road, which provides easy access to the beach.

Lock 3 Beach is an ideal spot to watch the sunset over the Cumberland River.

There are many attractions near Lock 3 Beach.  Sanders Ferry Park is a dog-friendly lakefront park that offers many amenities, including an 18-hole golf course, basketball courts, a fishing pier, a model airplane field, a playground, restrooms, picnic areas, picnic shelters, picnic tables, and a barbecue grill facility.  Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage is a Greek Revival-style mansion spread over 1,120 acres and features more than 20 historic buildings, including farms, gardens, cabins, a smokehouse, a spring house, a barn, and many more, that offer unique insight into the culture of the early 19th-century Tennessee region.  In addition, the hermitage hosts interesting historic reenactments, events, educational programming, and guided tours throughout the year.  Nashville Shores Waterpark is a family-friendly entertainment park that features thrill water slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, picnic pavilions, and many other attractions for all ages.  Adventure Science Center offers interesting exhibits and experiences in science, technology, and math.  In addition, it also hosts field trips, camps, workshops, and nature walks.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is home to African elephants, giraffes, zebras, kangaroos, Komodo dragons, and California sea lions.  It offers many fun activities, including camps, educational programs, field trips, animal-feeding experiences, and animal petting sessions.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants within a two-minute drive of Lock 3 Beach.  Main Street Bistro serves eggs, omelets, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Red Rooster Cafe serves amazing eggs, pancakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, waffles, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, beef, meat, and poultry dishes.  Cracker Barrel Old Country Store serves delicious, pre-designed meals. Music City Diner serves eggs, pancakes, waffles, French toast, biscuits and gravy, burgers, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.   If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Casa Vieja Mexican Grill serves quesadillas, burritos, chimichangas, chile rellenos, fajitas, burgers, soup, salads, seafood, beef, poultry dishes, and desserts.

If you are looking for a hotel near Lock 3 Beach, there are many great options nearby.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 5-Star Four Seasons Hotel Nashville is 30 minutes away by car and offers many amenities including an outdoor pool, a spa, a sauna, a fitness center, and many restaurants.  A more affordable hotel is the 4-StarTownePlace Suites by Marriott Nashville Goodlettsville, which has many amenities, including a heated indoor pool, a fitness center, a 24-hour convenience store, a picnic area with BBQ grills, and complimentary breakfast.  Another moderately priced option is the 4-Star Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, which has many amenities including  an indoor pool, two outdoor pools, 9 acres of indoor gardens, a spa, hot tubs, a fitness center, and nineteen restaurants.  A more reasonably priced option is the beachfront 3-Star Hyatt Place Nashville/Hendersonville, which offers many amenities including an outdoor pool, a fitness center, complimentary breakfast, and a restaurant.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, the 3-Star Hampton Inn & Suites Nashville Hendersonville has many amenities including an indoor pool, a fitness center, and complimentary breakfast.
