Overview
Located in the western part of Oahu, Kahe Point Beach Park - also known as Electric Beach - is a small beach with light brown sand, nearby palm trees, a sloping incline, and some rocky portions. This beach is situated near a large electric plant - this electric plant uses seawater as a coolant and then discharges the heated water into the Pacific Ocean near Kahe Point Beach Park via two large tubes. These tubes are surrounded by a concrete seawall.

Although Kahe Point Beach Park does not have lifeguards, the beach and the area around it have many other amenities including a shower, a pavilion, benches, picnic areas, restrooms, and a gazebo. Dogs on leashes are allowed in portions of Kahe Point Beach Park that are below the high tide line.

The water near Kahe Point Beach Park is immensely popular among scuba divers and snorkelers, who enter the water here to explore its vibrant biodiversity and landscape - the water near Kahe Point Beach Park has reefs and you can view many kinds of animals in the water near this beach including sea urchins, Hawaiian green sea turtles, Hawaiian monk seals, endangered spinner dolphins, and many kinds of fish including Hawaiian dascyllus, bullethead parrotfish, tang, and unicornfish. Hawaii’s Plantation Village is an outdoor museum that offers a unique insight into Hawaii’s history during the Plantation Era (approximately between 1820 and 1950). The village has restored buildings and replicas of plantation-related structures including a plantation store, a bathhouse, and an infirmary. The village also offers an interesting insight into the lives of migrants who came to work here from faraway lands including China, Portugal, and Japan to work here and the village also has a collection of native Hawaiian and non-native plant species. If you are looking for another attraction near Kahe Point Beach Park, Ko Olina Golf Club is a beautifully landscaped 18-hole golf facility that was designed by golf course architect Ted Robinson. This facility was listed as one of the “Top 75 Resort Courses in the U.S.” by the Golf Digest magazine and it has also hosted many golf tournaments including LPGA's Hawaiian Ladies Open (between 1990 and 1995) and the Ko Olina Senior PGA Invitational in 1992.
