Located near Gainesville, Lake Wauburg North Shore - also known as Lake Wauburg North Park - is a recreational area that has an unnamed white-sand beach. This beach is also known as Lake Wauburg North Shore Beach. This recreational area is managed by the University of Florida, whose main campus is present around eight miles to the north. This beach is situated along the shores of Lake Wauburg.

While Lake Wauburg North Shore has a lifeguard tower, it is important to note that a lifeguard might not be permanently deployed here. The university offers many amenities for its students and staff in this recreational area including water sporting equipment loaner facilities, horseshoe courts, volleyball courts, a boardwalk, sports equipment loaner facilities, and picnic areas.

The botanical garden has one of the largest bamboo displays and herb gardens of the South-eastern United States. You can view many unique kinds of plants here including Chinese royal bamboo, giant Victoria water lilies and Asian snake arums (available during summers), cycads, vines, and ferns. The garden also has a butterfly garden, a hummingbird garden, and a rock garden. Kanapaha Botanical Gardens also has picnic areas, benches, gazebos, a gift shop, and walking paths. Kanapaha Botanical Gardens also hosts many fun events throughout the year including the Spring Garden Festival and an annual bamboo sale. Sweetwater Wetlands Park is an artificial wetland which is spread over 125 acres. As an interesting fact, this wetland was designed in the shape of an alligator’s head. You can explore the park’s vibrant landscape via walking trails and observation areas present here. In addition, you can view many kinds of animals in this park including alligators, bison, and Florida cracker horses. Depending on the time of the year, you can also view many kinds of birds and butterflies in this park. The state park also has many other habitats including marshlands and hardwood hammock forests.
