Haulover Beach(Haulover Park)

Haulover Beach and the area around it offer many amenities including lifeguards, barbecue grills, children’s playgrounds, a skate park, golf course, a nearby marina, tennis courts, concession stands, picnic tables, restrooms, and rental facilities for water sports equipment, beach chairs, and beach umbrellas.  Dogs are allowed without a leash in a dog-friendly portion of Haulover Beach.  This dog-friendly portion is located between the beach’s Lifeguard Tower # 2 and Lifeguard Tower Number # 3.

Haulover Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, picnicking, fishing, swimming, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding, bodysurfing, skimboarding, snorkeling, scuba diving, water-skiing, jet-skiing, wakeboarding, parasailing, paddleboarding, kayaking, surf-skiing, canoeing, and wildlife watching.  

Snorkelers often visit this beach to explore its vibrant marine biodiversity.  

The beach is also frequently windy and this makes this beach ideal for kitesurfers, windsurfers, and for visitors who want to fly kites here.  You can check the Haulover Beach weather reports online to check the wind patterns here.  If you are planning to swim, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard here, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents.  In addition, sharks have also been known to live near this beach and the water here also has occasionally high levels of microbial contamination.  It is also important to note that floatation devices are also prohibited at Haulover Beach.

If you are planning to catch fish here, the rocky jetty at the southern end of the beach is an amazing site for fishing.  If you are planning to take Haulover Beach photos with amazing views, this beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Atlantic Ocean and the southern Florida shoreline.  

The beach offers complimentary beach wheelchairs for visitors with disabilities.  These beach wheelchairs are available at the nearby MDFR Ocean Rescue Lifeguard Station – this station is located just south of the nude beach portion of Haulover Beach.  You can contact the Ocean Rescue Lifeguard Station by phone at (786) 336-6990 for more information regarding using the beach wheelchairs.

Getting to Haulover Beach is easy – Haulover Park is located near 10800 Collins Avenue, where multiple paid parking lots are also available nearby.  This beach is easily accessible from Florida State Road A1A. 

The parking lots here charge $5 per vehicle on weekdays and $7 per vehicle on weekends and public holidays.

Haulover Park – within which Haulover Beach is located – was formally opened to the public in 1948.  In addition, Haulover Beach and Haulover Park also host many festivals including a kite festival and a weekly food truck festival.

There are many attractions near Haulover Beach within a 25-minute drive.  You can check the Haulover Beach map to see the nearby Oleta River State Park – this coastal state park offers many fun things to explore including a beach named Oleta River State Park Beach, a butterfly garden, forests, and biking paths.  This state park also offers many fun activities including biking, wildlife watching, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, roller skating, hiking, picnicking, fishing, and camping.  Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino is considered to be one of the most important horse-racing venues in the United States during its racing season (between December and October).  In addition, the track also has a casino and shopping stores.  Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park has a petting zoo, a butterfly garden, and a monument dedicated to the LGBTQ community.  This recreational park also has many amenities including picnic areas, a concession stand offering pony rides, and community gardens – this park is also home to many plants and animals.  

Ancient Spanish Monastery is a 12th century Spanish monastery that was disassembled, transported to the United States, and relocated from Spain to Florida by newspaper baron William Randolph Hearst.  This monastery has a church, gardens, a gift shop, and a museum.  If you are looking for another attraction near the beach, Dezerland Action Park Miami is an adventure park that offers many fun activities including go-karting, rock climbing, and riding bumper cars.  This park also has a ropes course and a gaming arcade.
