Rest Beach, also known as C.B. Harvey Rest Beach Park, is a small but picturesque beach located in Key West, Florida. Situated at the southern end of the island, it offers a 300-yard stretch of sand and vegetation, making it a quaint spot for relaxation. The beach is surrounded by coconut trees and features soft, albeit sometimes coarse with coral gravel at the waterline, sand perfect for wading and shelling. It is named after Cornelius Bradford Harvey, a former Key West mayor and city commissioner. The area is ideal for enjoying sunrises and sunsets, and while it is not as crowded as other beaches, it is popular for its peaceful ambiance and scenic views.
Rest Beach Park is adjacent to Higgs Beach and offers amenities such as picnic tables, restrooms, and a yoga deck where classes are held nightly. The proximity to Higgs Beach Dog Park also attracts many dog owners, though it is not officially a dog-friendly beach. Visitors can enjoy activities like swimming, snorkeling, and beachcombing, and the shallow waters make it suitable for families.
One of the unique features of Rest Beach is its proximity to the Key West Aids Memorial, located nearby at the entrance of the Edward B. Knight Pier. The park is open daily from 7 AM to 11 PM, providing ample opportunity for both morning and evening activities.
