Located in the city of Dunedin, Honeymoon Dog Beach is a half-mile-long and wide beach situated at the southern end of Honeymoon Island that faces the Gulf of Mexico. Honeymoon Island has a four-mile-long shoreline and is filled with many water sports enthusiasts including swimmers, kayakers, surfers, and divers. Honeymoon Island has paved walking and biking trails as well as a fishing spot where you can catch trout, flounder, snapper, and mackerel. Also known as Honeymoon Island Dog Beach, Honeymoon Dog Beach is situated in front of Hurricane Pass and is backed by Pelican Cove.  Honeymoon Dog Beach has beautiful white-light grey sand and its shore are covered by lots of seashells making it an awesome destination for beachcombing. As the name suggests, Honeymoon Dog Beach welcomes dogs on a six-foot leash on the beach, trails, as well as in the water. 

Although Honeymoon Dog Beach does not have lifeguards, the beach offers many amenities including restrooms, showers, picnic pavilions, and trails. 

There are many fun activities at Honeymoon Dog Beach including swimming, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, beachcombing, and sunbathing. Please note that Honeymoon Dog Beach remains open every day from 8 a.m. till sunset.

Getting to Honeymoon Dog Beach is very easy – the beach has a paid parking lot at 1 Causeway Boulevard that costs $8/vehicle and is situated in front of the beach. 

If you are looking for nearby attractions, there are many options within a 25-minute drive of Honeymoon Dog Beach. Oddities & Antiques is an amazing art gallery with collections of paintings, photographs, wood art, and art workshops and classes. Clearwater Marine Aquarium is home to North American river otters, green sea turtles, cownose rays, southern stingrays, nurse sharks, great white pelicans, hogfish, red drum, and Winter – a bottlenose dolphin. If you like recreational activities, Caladesi Island State Park offers a three-mile-long nature trail, boats, canoes, kayaks, birding, and wildlife viewing. Another great attraction near Honeymoon Dog Beach is Pier 60, an incredible fishing spot featuring street performers, artistic shops, and beautiful sunset views for clicking Instagram-worthy pictures. 

If you get hungry, there are many restaurants within a 10-minute drive of Honeymoon Dog Beach. The Spanish restaurant Columbia Restaurant Sand Key offers gazpacho, paella valenciana, patatas bravas, fideua, tortilla, jamon, and churros. Gondolier Pizza is a pizza restaurant featuring homemade pizza, breadsticks, and chicken wings. Another good restaurant near Honeymoon Dog Beach is Beach Shanty Café that serves many brunch options including dim sums, waffles, hash browns, eggs, salmon, and blintzes.
