duBois Beach is a picturesque beach located at the southernmost end of Water Street in Stonington Borough, Connecticut. It offers a family-friendly environment with shallow water depths, a shaded gazebo, an anchored dock, and jetties for crabbing. The beach is owned by the Stonington Village Improvement Association (SVIA) and managed by the Stonington Community Center (COMO). It is reserved for residents and COMO members but also accessible to the general public for a daily fee. duBois Beach has been recognized as one of the top 20 best beaches in New England by the Boston Globe.
The beach has a rich history, dating back to the late 1940s when the SVIA aimed to create a community beach. Coert duBois played a pivotal role in raising funds and making the beach a cooperative community effort. The beach was officially dedicated to his memory in 1960.
Visitors can enjoy stunning views of Stonington Harbor, Fisher's Island Sound, and Little Narragansett Bay while relaxing in this serene coastal setting.
