Located in Summerland in Southern California, Summerland Beach is popular with locals because it’s dog-friendly, never crowded, and a great place to observe marine life. There is plenty of parking in the free parking lot.

This beach has amenities including public restrooms, showers, and a coin-operated dog spa, but does not have lifeguards.

The peaceful waters here are great for swimming, paddleboarding, and boogie boarding. The sand here stretches for miles and is the perfect place for long walks, jobs, and sand sports. During low tide, you can walk southeast as far as Loon Point. Summerland Beach is also horse-friendly, and Summerland Beach Rides offers guided horseback rides both on the beach and the neighboring trails. If you want to stay onshore, Lookout Park has a volleyball court, a playground, and picnic areas. This beach is also popular for watching dolphins and whales from the shore. A 2-minute walk from the shore takes you to the quaint downtown area of Summerland, which is known for its antique shops and boutiques.

This beach is also one of the few beaches in California that offers free-of-charge beach wheelchairs to the public and is one of the most accessible beaches in the area. The beach is tucked just below Lookout Park and is accessible by a paved ramp from the parking lot.

In the heart of Summerland, you’ll also find a few other dining options. Tinker Burger has been a local favorite for 33 years and offers simple fast-food style fare. If you’re looking for something more indulgent, the Summerland Winery is a boutique that focuses on Central Coast wines and offers tastings seven days a week.

If you’re looking for a place to stay, there are many unique options nearby. The Inn on Summer Hill offers a luxurious ocean view bed and breakfast experience that focuses on local goods. A budget-friendly option is the Summerland Inn, which is within walking distance of all the local attractions. For a unique experience, we like Babcock Estate House & Guest House, a charming accommodation on the grounds of Babcock Winery & Vineyards that offers guests complimentary wine tastings.
