Activities
The long stretch of sand is over one-mile long and is perfect for walking and running. La Jolla Shores Beach has also sand volleyball courts and a basketball court. The La Jolla Shores Boardwalk is a great path for biking and skateboarding up the San Diego coast. You’ll find many surf schools near the beach that offer camps and private lessons for beginners – we recommend Surf Diva and La Jolla Surf Systems. Another popular activity in La Jolla Shores is the guided kayak tour to see the La Jolla Caves. The La Jolla Kayak Tour starts at $39 per person and offers a tour of all seven La Jolla Rock Caves where you can explore the La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve. We like Caroline’s Seaside Café, a popular brunch spot that’s located on the north end of La Jolla Shores Beach and serves healthy and creative California cuisine. The La Jolla Shores Hotel is home to restaurants including The Shore’s Restaurant, a family-friendly seafood establishment with outdoor seating and ocean views. If you’re looking for fine dining, check out Piatti, a traditional Italian trattoria that’s only a 4-minute drive from the beach and offers patio seating set under string lights and a large fig tree.
