Located south of Duncan’s Landing in Sonoma County, Rock Point Beach is a small beach below steep bluffs and is a part of a state park known as Sonoma Coast State Park. Rock Point Beach has light brown sand and offers rocky point, beach access.

The water near Rock Point Beach is dangerous for aquatic recreational activities including swimming and surfing due to extremely strong rip currents, dangerous waves, and extremely cold temperatures. The water near the beach is home to a variety of animals including seals, sea lions, dolphins, and migrating grey whales (between December and April). A popular activity in Rock Point Beach is fishing - depending on the time of the year you can catch a large array of fish here including steelhead, halibut, rockfish, and salmon. If you are planning to fish in Rock Point Beach, please ensure that you comply with the local fishing regulations. During low tide, you can walk north and explore a gulch present near the beach. However, we recommend being careful as the rocky area around the gulch can be slippery.

Getting to Rock Point Beach is easy - the access trail to the beach is located near 6707 Pacific Coast Highway, where there is also a free parking lot. However, we recommend being careful while going down the access trail to the beach as it is steep. In addition, we recommend visiting the beach at low tide as during high tide the beach can be inaccessible.

Jenner Headlands Preserve is a 5,600-acre large nature preserve that features diverse landscapes that offer an interesting insight into the vibrant flora and fauna of Sonoma County. Pacific Bay Gallery is an art gallery featuring interesting artworks including carvings, sculptures, relic art, and paintings. If you are looking for another attraction near Rock Point Beach, the Mammoth Rocks is a prehistoric site that has blueschist rocks that bear interesting scratch marks from Colombian mammoths.
