Located in the city of Avalon, Hamilton Cove is a small public beach situated in a private community called Hamilton Cove on Santa Catalina Island. Also known as Hamilton Beach, Hamilton Cove is surrounded by many popular and beautiful villas and condos that rise up along a steep 100-foot tall hillside. 

Hamilton Cove is well-equipped with amenities including restrooms, barbecues, picnic tables, tennis courts, a boat mooring, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and a golf course.

If you are looking for attractions near Hamilton Cove, you can take a 15-minute drive using a golf cart to Catalina Island Museum, a 67-year-old museum that is home to more than 8,000 years old artifacts of human settlement on Catalina Island that include pottery and tile collections, photographs and negatives from the early 1880s, boat models, sport fishing items, and the largest collections of Tongva and Gabrielino artifacts. Another attraction is the miniature golf course Golf Gardens which features a 50-year-old 18-hole course. If you like escape rooms, the pirate-themed Catalina Room Escape is a fun and challenging tourist attraction site where you have to escape a pirate ship in under an hour. Another great attraction near Hamilton Cove is Machine Gun Park, a small historical park that has a German machine gun from World War I.

There are many fun activities here including swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, and croquet. Getting here is a two-step process – arriving on Catalina Island by helicopter or ferry, and then getting to the beach from there. If you’re taking a ferry to the island, Catalina Express offers rides from Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Dana Point to the Avalon Harbor dock in Catalina Island. There are no cars on Catalina Island, and once you arrive you have two options to get to Hamilton Cove – you can walk or take a golf cart here.

If you like Asian food, Katie's Kitchen features fried rice, tofu, Chinese hamburgers, Peking duck, and an incredible patio setting. Another great restaurant near Hamilton Cove is the pet-friendly Mexican and American restaurant The Sandtrap that serves breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner items.
