Cala Escondida

Located near the village of Sant Josep de sa Talaia on the south-western coast of Ibiza, Cala Escondida is a small white sand beach with many rocky portions.  The beach is adjacent to the famous Cala Comte and positioned below a headland along the coast of San Antonio. The beach has a beautiful background of rocky outcrops with a few fishermen's huts, a bar, and nearby restaurants.  There are two small islands, S’Espartar Illa des Bosc and Sa Conillera, located just off the coast on the northern side of the beach, that provide Instagram-worthy views of the ocean.

Cala Escondida does not have lifeguards but offers several amenities, including a beach bar with a thatched roof and solar panels, a composting toilet, shady areas, a bus stop, and a beach bar.

Cala Escondida offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, hiking, and diving.  If you are planning to go into the water, it has a safe swimming area.   However, water is known to have unpredictable rip currents.  If you enjoy snorkeling, the eastern side of the beach offers amazing opportunities to explore the underwater world.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  Dogs are not allowed on the beach, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Getting to Cala Escondida is easy - it has a paid parking lot located at the end of Carretera de Comte, which provides easy access to the beach. It is important to note that visitors have to step down a few stairs to access this beach.

Cala Escondida can also be reached by a public bus (line L4), which stops near the beach.

There are many attractions near Cala Escondida. Torre des Carregador, also known as Torre de Sa Sal Rossa, is a 13-meter-high watchtower positioned on the southwestern coast of Ibiza.  It was built during the 15th century to watch over the landings where ships were loaded with valuable salt at Ses Salines.  Visitors can explore this historical site and enjoy the panoramic view of the vast Mediterranean Sea.  Es Vedra is a 413-meter-tall, rocky island located off the southwestern coast of Ibiza.  Visitors can book a day tour to explore this small, uninhabited limestone islet, which offers incredible views during sunsets.   IBIZA KARTING San Antonio offers an interesting go-karting experience to kids from four years old to adults with novice to advanced skills in driving.  In addition, it offers many other amenities, including a kid’s game zone with a trampoline, wifi, a pool, and a snack bar. Museu Puget is a small museum that showcases the artistic works, including oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, and photographs, of the Puget family, who were prominent artists and painters on the island of Ibiza.  In addition to the permanent collection, the museum also hosts many temporary exhibits that display local art and culture.  If you are looking for another attraction near Cala Escondida, Placa del Parc is a city square that offers a variety of restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries, boutiques, and shops where visitors can shop and enjoy authentic Balearic food.
