Best Family-Friendly Beaches in Pescadero

Located approximately five miles north of the Pigeon Point Light Station, Pescadero Point Beach is a beach with light brown sand, many small pebbles, and many nearby large rocks.  This beach is located below oceanfront bluffs and it is located adjacent to a rocky coastal area named Pescadero Point.  Pescadero Point Beach is not to be confused with another separate nearby state beach named Pescadero State Beach.  In addition, this beach should also not be confused with another coastal area named Pescadero Point - this coastal area is located in the community of Pebble Beach near the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Pescadero Point Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, so please plan accordingly.  Dogs on leash are allowed in Pescadero Point Beach.

Located to the south of Half Moon Bay, Bean Hollow State Beach is an oceanfront state park. This state park has two separate beaches - Pebble Beach and Arroyo de los Frijoles Beach - which are situated in rocky coves below oceanfront bluffs. The beaches in Bean Hollow State Beach are separated by a mile-long rocky headland. Pebble Beach is in the northern part of the state park and is a pebbly beach with rocky and sandy portions. Arroyo de los Frijoles Beach is in the southern part of the state park and is a generally sandy beach with some rocky parts. A creek flows through Arroyo De los Frijoles Beach into the Pacific Ocean. The beaches in Bean Hollow State Beach do not have lifeguards. However, the area around these two beaches has many amenities including restrooms, picnic tables, barbecue spots, and walking trails. Dogs on leash are allowed on the beaches in Bean Hollow State Beach. 

Located in Pescadero - Whaler’s Cove is a remote beige sand beach that is a part of Pigeon Point Light Station State Historic Park and is situated below oceanfront bluffs. 

Located in Pescadero, San Mateo County, Cascade Creek Beach is a smooth sand beach bordering the north end of the natural preserve of Año Nuevo State Park. It is one of the less-visited beaches, as a result, there should be little traffic. The wind is relatively steady, which makes it perfect for kite and windsurfing. 

Located in the city of Pescadero, Pescadero State Beach – South Beach is a beach with light-brown sand and small rocky coves and is part of a larger state-protected beach named Pescadero State Beach. A protected lagoon and wetlands are also present near the beach.

Located in Pescadero, Pistachio Beach has tan-colored sand and is a part of a state park named Pigeon Point Light Station State Historic Park. A stream from the nearby Yankee Jim Gulch flows into the Pacific Ocean near the northern end of this beach.
