Located in the beach town of San Vito Lo Capo, Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo – also called San Vito Lo Capo Beach – is a popular, wide, and beautiful three-kilometers-long beach with light brown sand, a few nearby breakwaters, nearby palm trees, and a beautiful backdrop of oceanfront mountains. 

This beach has been highly recommended by many print and digital publications – Conde Nast Traveller listed this beautiful beach as one of the best 14 beaches in Sicily in 2024.  The Guardian also listed this beach as one of the “24 secret beaches in Southern Europe” in 2024 – Lonely Planet also listed this beach as one of the 17 best beaches in Italy in 2024.  In addition, this beach has also been awarded a Blue Flag award because of its cleanliness.  This beach is also a favorite of Randall Kaplan, the world’s foremost beach expert who is known as Mr. Beach.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo and there are many places to eat in San Vito Lo Capo.  Sea Garden – Terrazza Sul Mare offers many amazing dishes including panini, burger, salads, pinsa, and desserts, along with a variety of amazing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages – it also offers fun live music.  Syrah Ristorantino di Vito Cipponeri has an elegant ambience and a courtyard – it offers excellent Southern Italian and local cuisine including seafood dishes, pasta, risotto, Italian-style steaks, and dessert.  Ristorante Dal Cozzaro is known for serving delicious Sicilian-style dishes including its signature seafood couscous, salads, pasta alla norma, caponata, seafood soup, and grilled squid.  Sapori di Mare di Filippo offers excellent local seafood and it also offers many other amazing Italian and Mediterranean-style dishes including pasta, steak, and chicken dishes.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant, Caffe Savoia "di Bua" is a cafe that offers many Italian snacks including sandwiches, pasta, salads, and toast – it also offers many great desserts and soft beverages.

If you are looking for a hotel near the beach, there are many great nearby places to stay in San Vito Lo Capo.  The 4-Star Hotel Capo San Vito offers many amenities including a sauna, a spa, a terrace, a restaurant, a private beach area with sun loungers and umbrellas, and complimentary breakfast.  Villaggio Cala Mancina is another great hotel that offers many amenities including a pool, a restaurant, a bar, a sporting club, a garden, and complimentary breakfast.  Camping Village la Pineta offers accommodation in tents and RVs and it also has villas – this camping village offers many amenities including multiple pools, a football pitch, a shopping market, a tennis court, multiple restaurants, and an outdoor disco.  Other great hotels near the beach include the 3.5-Star Hotel Riviera, the 3-Star Hotel Mira Spiaggia a San Vito Lo Capo, and the 3-Star Al Paradise.  A more affordable hotel is the Locanda Lighea that offers many amenities including a terrace with a solarium, bike rental facilities, beach umbrella loaners, a library, and complimentary breakfast.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, Affittacamere Room & Breakfast Aloe offers a solarium terrace with deck chairs and complimentary breakfast – this bed-and-breakfast is located conveniently close to San Vito Lo Capo’s major landmarks.

Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo offers a few amenities including lifeguards, a concrete pier, and nearby concession stands.  In addition, there are private beach clubs here that also offer many amenities including access to restrooms, showers, and rental facilities for beach chairs and beach umbrellas.  In addition, rental facilities for boats and water sports equipment are also available nearby. 

Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, swimming, boating, jet-skiing, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodysurfing, boogie boarding, skimboarding, water-skiing, surf-skiing, paddleboarding, snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching. 

This beach is ideal for beginner swimmers because the clear and shallow water here mostly offers gentle waves.  In addition, snorkelers and scuba divers also visit this beach to explore its vibrant nearby marine biodiversity and have a great time here.  Loggerhead turtles sometimes use this beach as a seasonal nesting site.  

If you like boating, you can also charter boat tours from the marina nearby – there are many boat tour concessions near the beach that offer fun boating day trips and you can enjoy the sea while boating here.

If you plan to swim, kayak, or paddleboard here, we recommend being careful because the water here can have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.  In addition, the water here can also sometimes have a lot of algae.  If you like taking pictures with beautiful views, Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo Sicily offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the northwestern Sicilian shoreline and the Tyrrhenian Sea, especially at sunset.  There are many interesting beaches near San Vito Lo Capo that you can explore – these beaches include Cala tonnarella dell'Uzzo, Cala Bue Marino, Baia Santa Margherita, and Cala Rossa.

Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo has wheelchair-friendly access paths and ramps for disabled visitors.  In addition, some of the beach clubs and concessions here also offer beach wheelchairs and disabled friendly restrooms to wheelchair bound visitors.

Getting to Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo is easy – this beach is located along a road named Via Litoranea Lungomare and it is easily accessible from two local highways named Strada Provinciale 63 and Strada Provinciale 16. 

There is a free parking lot near the beach on the outskirts of San Vito Lo Capo.  Once you park here, it takes around 10 minutes to walk to the beach.  In addition to the free parking lot, there are multiple small paid parking lots nearby – these paid parking lots are marked by blue lines and they charge around €2 per hour.  In addition, the beach clubs here also offer small parking lots for their customers near the beach.  

Please note that many of the beach entrances to this beach are managed by private beach clubs and you need to pay a fee to use these San Vito Lo Capo beach club entrances. 

If you want to travel by bus, bus services to San Vito Lo Capo are easily available from Trapani.  Once you get off at San Vito Lo Capo’s bus stand, you can easily walk to the beach.  The bus services cost anywhere between €4.5 and €6 – you can visit the websites of the local bus service providers for more information on the bus timings.  One of the local bus service providers here is the Azienda Siciliana Transporti.  We recommend visiting this beach early during the peak season between July and August because it can get crowded quickly during this time.

This beach also hosts an annual kite festival named the International Kite Festival, usually during summer – this festival offers many fun things to do, including night-time kite flights, flight exhibitions, kid-friendly workshops, and fun live entertainment, along with many great food options.  In addition, the town of San Vito Lo Capo also hosts another annual festival named the Cous Cous Festival.

There are many attractions near Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo.  Monte Monaco is a mountain that offers a fun hiking and wildlife-watching experience.  You can also explore a disused marble quarry and a large wooden cross here – the top of this mountain offers amazing views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the northwestern Sicilian shoreline.  Grotta de Cavalli is a cave whose mouth offers amazing views of the northwestern Sicilian shoreline and the Tyrrhenian Sea – in addition, you can also see many interesting rock art here from the Neolithic Era.  Santuario di San Vito Lo Capo is a 15th-century church that was built in honor of a local saint named San Vito and it also has a museum containing interesting exhibitions including religious artifacts, old wallpapers, and silver antiques.  This church is shaped like a fortress and it used to offer protection to local citizens in case of pirate attacks.  San Vito Lo Capo Lighthouse is a lighthouse that was built in 1859 and is 40 meters tall – this lighthouse offers some amazing Instagram-worthy photos.  Tonnara del Secco is an old abandoned tuna fishery that has been closed since the mid-20th century – while entering this tuna fishery is officially prohibited; it is nevertheless an iconic local historical landmark.  In addition, the water near this fishery is also an ideal swimming site – this fishery was also featured in the Italian TV series “Inspector Montalbano.”  If you are looking for another attraction near the beach, Riserva dello Zingaro is a coastal nature reserve that is a 25-minute-drive away and offers many fun activities including hiking, wildlife watching, sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing – this reserve has a rich coastal biodiversity and it also has many beaches including Cala Marinella, Cala Berretta, and Cala Capreria.
