Located near the town of San Vito Lo Capo, Bue Marino Beach – also called Caetta del Bue Marino, Bue Marino Bay, and Cala Bue Marino – is a small, narrow, and northwest-facing beach with many pebbles, large rocks, and nearby rocky oceanfront cliffs in Northwestern Sicily.  This beach is also near the village of Macari.   The Italian Non-Governmental Organization Legambiente also listed this beautiful beach as the “Most Beautiful Beach in Sicily” in 2016.

This beach should not be confused with another beach with a similar name – this other beach is also called Spiaggia Bue Marino and it is located on the island of Favignana.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Bue Marino Beach.  Azzurra Makari is a fine-dining restaurant that offers excellent Sicilian-inspired gourmet dishes including caponata, couscous, pasta, seafood, and risotto.  Ristorante Antico Borgo San Vito Lo Capo is known for serving delicious Sicilian-inspired seafood, along with other great dishes including busiate alla norma, Sicilian-style cassata, and caponata.  Ristorante Alfredo has a homely ambience and it offers a variety of delicious Sicilian dishes including couscous, Trapanese-style pesto, and busiate-style pasta.  Trattoria Pizzeria Zammu offers a variety of amazing Italian and Sicilian dishes including pizzas, caponata, pasta, and salads, along with excellent Sicilian seafood including tuna and squid.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Pizze E Delizie offers delicious snacks including pizzas, calzones, and panini sandwiches.

If you are looking for a hotel near Bue Marino Beach, there are many great nearby options.  The 4-Star Hotel Capo San Vito offers many amenities including a sauna, a spa, a terrace, a restaurant, a private beach area with sun loungers and umbrellas, and complimentary breakfast.  Another great hotel is the 4-Star Hotel Panoramic that offers many amenities including a restaurant, a nearby private beach area, and complimentary breakfast.  Another great hotel is the Camping Village El-Bahira that offers accommodation in tents, RV camping sites, and apartment buildings – this camping village offers many amenities including a restaurant, a mini market, a pool, a kids’ pool, sunloungers, multiple sports courts, bike trails, and a garden.  A more affordable hotel is the 3-Star Hotel Ristorante Pocho di Marilu that offers many amenities including a pool, a sundeck, a restaurant, a bar, a terrace, and a display of Traditional Sicilian puppets.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, the 3-Star Cala Dell’Arena offers many amenities including a pool, a terrace, and complimentary breakfast.

Bue Marino Beach Sicily does not offer lifeguards or any other amenities except rental facilities for beach chairs and beach umbrellas, so please plan accordingly.

Bue Marino Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, fishing, swimming, paddleboarding, tidepooling, snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, water-skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching.  

This beach is ideal for beginner swimmers because the clear water here is usually calm.  In addition, snorkelers also visit this beach to explore its vibrant nearby biodiversity.  You can also explore the shoreline through fun boat tours – there are many private boat charters based in the nearby San Vito Lo Capo Harbor that offer boat tours of Bue Marino Beach and the surrounding shoreline.   

If you plan to swim, snorkel, or kayak here, we recommend being careful because the water here can have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.  In addition, please also be careful while exploring the rugged cliffs around the beach because any accidents here can cause serious injuries. 

If you like tidepooling, you can explore the interesting tide pools around Bue Marino Beach at low tide.  This beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter beach experience because it sees fewer visitors as compared to other nearby beaches.  If you want to explore another nearby beach, you can visit the Spiaggia di Isulidda – this beach has many nearby sea caves that you can explore and it is also a popular snorkeling site.

Bue Marino Beach does not offer wheelchair access to visitors with disabilities.

Getting to Bue Marino Beach is easy – the free parking lot for this beach is located along a road named Strada Provinciale 16 and it is easily accessible from the town of San Vito Lo Capo.  

If you are travelling to the beach from the nearby city of Trapani – you need to drive through Strada Provinciale 20.  From Strada Provinciale 20, you need to turn towards Strada Provinciale 18.  There are street signs around Strada Provinciale 18 that will lead you to the free parking lot for Bue Marino Beach.  Once you park at the beach’s free parking lot, you need to walk to the beach through a slightly rugged access trail that is around 500 meters long.

If you like taking pictures with beautiful views, there is a viewpoint near Bue Marino Beach that offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the northwestern Sicilian shoreline, especially at sunset. 

There are many attractions near Bue Marino Beach.  Riserva dello Zingaro is a coastal nature reserve that is a 25-minute-drive away and offers many fun activities including hiking, wildlife watching, sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing – this reserve has a rich coastal biodiversity and it also has many beaches including Cala Marinella, Cala Berretta, and Cala Capreria.  Santuario di San Vito Lo Capo is a 15th century church that was built in honor of a local saint named San Vito and it also has a museum containing interesting exhibitions including religious artifacts, old wallpapers, and silver antiques.  This church is shaped like a fortress and it used to offer protection to local citizens in case of pirate attacks.  Baia Santa Margherita is a beach that offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, boating, and surf-skiing.  It also offers amazing views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the northwestern Sicilian shoreline.  Monte Monaco is a mountain that offers a fun hiking and wildlife-watching experience.  You can also explore a disused marble quarry and a large wooden cross here – the top of this mountain offers amazing views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the northwestern Sicilian shoreline.  San Vito Lo Capo Lighthouse is a lighthouse that was built in 1859 and is 40 meters tall – this lighthouse offers some amazing Instagram-worthy photos.  If you are looking for another attraction near the beach, Riserva Naturale Orientata Monte Cofano is a 25-minute drive away and it is centered around a 659-meters-tall mountain named Monte Cofano – this reserve offers a fun hiking and wildlife watching experience.  In addition, this reserve also has multiple caves that have many interesting items including fossils, prehistoric artifacts, and remains of old weapons – this park also has ruins of an old watchtower, a fish-processing factory, and an abandoned settlement.
