Spiaggia 'A Ficara

Located in the city of Vibo Valentia in the Calabria region of southern Italy, Spiaggia di Ficara - also known as Ficara Beach or Beach of the Ficara - is a small, beige sand beach with many rocky portions.  The beach is adjacent to the famous Praia I Focu Beach and is positioned below the steep, rugged cliffs along the Tyrrhenian Sea, offering incredible views.  Spiaggia di Ficara is promoted as an ecotourism destination, encouraging sustainable tourism practices that preserve its natural environment and marine life.

Spiaggia di Ficara does not have a lifeguard or any other amenities except an observation area, so plan your trip accordingly.

Getting to Spiaggia di Ficara is difficult - you can access the beach through a steep and rocky trail that starts at the Residence Capo Vaticano Praia di Fuoco, which is located near Via Giuseppe Berto, Località Capo Vaticano, 89866 Ricadi VV, Italy.  It is worth noting that the final part of the trail involves a steep stairway, consisting of around 500 steps, and there are ropes in place to assist with the descent. 

Alternatively, visitors can book a boat tour that departs from the main island of Tropea to Capo Vaticano to access this beach.

The beach gets its name from an old fig tree that stands at the entrance to the sandy shore, which adds allure to its beauty.
