4. Cape Kamenjak

Premantura, Istria County, Croatia

Devote an entire day to explore Cape Kamenjak, a designated nature park in the south of Istria. The small entry fee for cars is made worth it by the beautiful natural landscape of the park: rolling hills, native flowers, fruit trees and rugged coastline. There are many beaches at Cape Kamenjak so even when the park is crowded it is possible to find a secluded cove. While swimming in the Adriatic, make sure to check out the tide pools and small caves created by the rocky coastline. Many visitors also use the rocks on the coast for cliff diving, as some of the cliffs stand at over 70 feet above the water. Even if you don’t you jump off the rocks into the bay or swim along the coast to explore caves, make sure to find a spot on the shore to watch the dolphins and Mediterranean monk seals that make Cape Kamenjak their home. A great way to explore all that Cape Kamenjak has to offer is to join a bike tour starting in Pula. Bike Tours Istria in Pula is one of the many vendors offering bike tours. Once you’re done exploring the beautiful coast of the Cape, check out the fossilized dinosaur footprints on the peninsula. The Safari Bar at Cape Kamenjak is considered a destination spot by many, as the unique beach cabin serves delicious cocktails and sandwiches essentially in the middle of the jungle.

6. Banje Beach

Dubrovnik, Dubrovačko-neretvanska županija, Croatia

If you’re looking for an exciting vacation in a historic European city, Dubrovnik is one of the best destinations you’ll find in Croatia, and Banje Beach is no exception.  The Banje Beach Restaurant and Night Club is a private beachfront nightclub and seafood restaurant, featuring nighttime DJs and a pier. The closest beach to Old Town Dubrovnik, Banje Beach is also one of the few sandy beaches in the area, boasting over 100 meters of beige sand, dotted with pebbles, gorgeous views over Dubrovnik’s harbor, and inviting water for swimming.  Although it’s often crowded, the popular beach offers all of the amenities you’d expect, such as renting lounge chairs and umbrellas.

You might recognize Old Town Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location in the hugely popular HBO series, Game of Thrones.  Old Town Dubrovnik offers endless activities, just steps away from the beach -- dozens of local bars, several restaurants, a myriad of nightclubs, an oceanside aquarium, the renowned Porporela Lighthouse, and many cultural landmarks, such as the city’s medieval walls.  Rector's Palace Renaissance, a mansion and museum, and Lazareti, a set of ancient buildings aside the port, are also great attractions. Catch one of a variety of tours around the city, including kayak tours, boat tours, and Game of Thrones-themed tours around the filming locations.  You’ll love the historic European architecture and classic red-roofed buildings. Overall, Banje Beach is a one-in-a-million destination, and definitely worth visiting this vacation season!
