Seagull Bar Wildlife Area Beach, located off the City of Marinette on Green Bay, is a unique natural attraction. It features a sand spit and marsh, housing the only true dune complex along Green Bay. This area is crucial for migratory birds, serving as a staging ground during spring and fall migrations. The sand spit shelters a lagoon and shallow waters, attracting waterfowl and shorebirds by the thousands. The federally endangered piping plover has also attempted to nest here. The beach offers a serene environment with fluctuating water levels, creating an ever-changing landscape of mud flats and emergent aquatics.
The area's rich dune flora includes species like rush, marram grass, Canada rye, and beach pea. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife of this protected area, which was designated a State Natural Area in 1962.
Seagull Bar is owned by the DNR and offers a peaceful escape for nature lovers and bird enthusiasts alike.
