Lyon Creek Waterfront Preserve is a serene and peaceful beach located in Lake Forest Park, Washington. It offers a tranquil escape into nature with its small, 100-foot-long beach and dark, grainy sand. The preserve is situated on Lake Washington and includes 250 feet of Lyon Creek, providing a unique blend of natural habitats like wetlands and riparian zones. This area is rich in wildlife, making it ideal for bird watching and nature observation. Visitors can enjoy activities such as swimming, kayaking, fishing, and hiking, though swimming is not highly recommended due to the lack of lifeguards. The preserve was once a logging site but was transformed into a public park in the 1990s, becoming a haven for wildlife including eagles, beavers, and river otters.
The preserve's proximity to the Lake Forest Park Town Center offers easy access to shops and restaurants. It is open from dawn to dusk, and dogs must be kept on leashes. The park features a viewing dock and scenic benches, providing beautiful views of Lake Washington and Lyon Creek.
Recent improvements have enhanced public access, including a multi-use dock and accessible pathways, allowing visitors to enjoy passive recreation and community activities.
