Bonneau Beach

Located in the city of Bonneau in the town of Berkeley County, Bonneau Beach is a small beige sand beach.  The beach is positioned on the shores of Lake Moultrie, which is actually a reservoir on Pinopolis Dam to control floods and generate electricity.  The beach has a beautiful backdrop of cypress trees and many oceanfront homes, which together provide incredible views

The beach does not have lifeguards or any amenities except a fishing pier, so plan your trip accordingly.

Getting to Bonneau Beach is easy - it has free street parking spots located at 507 Butter Road and provides easy access to the beach.

Bonneau Beach is a fishing paradise where anglers may catch the world record channel catfish weighing 58 pounds and the state record black crappie weighing 5 pounds.

There are many attractions near Bonneau Beach.  Berkeley County Museum has a gallery that displays interesting exhibits on the history and culture of the region of Berkeley County through historic artifacts, photographs, and related memorabilia.  Old Santee Canal Park is a dog-friendly riverfront park spread over 195 acres that aims to protect and promote the historical, cultural, and natural resources of the region through education programs and recreational activities including camping, picnicking, fishing, boating, bicycling, and wildlife viewing.  Cypress Gardens has a swamp surrounded by cypress trees and tupelo trees, where visitors can enjoy self-guided or guided boat tours that offer unique insight into the fragile ecosystem and biodiversity of the region.  In addition, the garden also has a small aquarium and a butterfly garden.  Charleston Adventure Forest is a family-friendly recreational area that offers many fun activities, including ziplines, wall climbing, and camping, for all age groups.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction,Middleton Place is a historic plantation estate located on the bank of the Ashley River.  It is home to 65 acres of landscaped gardens, stable yards, a museum, a restaurant, and a plantation house with spiral staircases and French furnishings
