Loleta Recreation Area is nestled in the Allegheny National Forest, about six miles south of Marienville, Pennsylvania. It offers a serene escape with its 38 campsites, divided between a non-electric upper loop and an electric lower loop, accommodating tents and RVs up to 50 feet. The area features a swimming beach, picnic shelters, and a three-mile hiking trail that provides stunning views of the Millstone Valley. The site has a rich history, having been developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s on the grounds of a former logging town. The CCC's craftsmanship is evident in the stonework and log structures still present today.
Visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, with opportunities for trout fishing in Millstone Creek and canoeing on the nearby Clarion River. The area is also close to the Buzzard Swamp Wildlife Management Area, offering additional trails for hiking and wildlife viewing.
Loleta Recreation Area is a great spot for families and nature lovers seeking a tranquil retreat amidst the beauty of the Allegheny National Forest.
