McPhillips Beach is a serene and secluded two-mile stretch of sandy shoreline located within the Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area, just north of Pacific City, Oregon. It offers a tranquil atmosphere, making it a quieter alternative to the more bustling southern beaches. The beach is known for its rugged landscape, featuring sandstone formations, steep bluffs, and imposing cliffs. Visitors can enjoy activities like beachcombing, fat tire biking, and driving on the beach, as well as watching the annual gray whale migration from December to May.
The beach's unique rock formations and gravel bars around Miles Creek make it a great spot for rockhounding and tidepooling. After winter storms, the sand often reveals treasures like agates, jaspers, and marine fossils.
McPhillips Beach is managed by Oregon State Parks and is open year-round for day-use, with no entrance fees. It offers a vault toilet as its primary amenity.
