Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park is located just three miles south of Florence, Oregon, along Highway 101. It is the second-largest state park in Oregon, offering a diverse landscape of freshwater lakes, dunes, and forest. The park is a popular destination for both day-use visitors and campers, with over 350 campsites available, including tent sites, RV sites, and yurts. Visitors can enjoy activities like hiking, swimming, boating, and exploring the sand dunes. The park's proximity to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area makes it an ideal spot for those interested in off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding or sandboarding.
The park's natural beauty is complemented by its rich history, with a 43-acre historic district that retains much of its 1930s character, thanks to the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Jessie Honeyman was a dedicated advocate for Oregon's natural resources, and the park was named in her honor in 1941.
Despite being near the coast, the park does not offer direct beach access, as it is separated from the ocean by two miles of sand dunes. However, the scenic views and diverse wildlife make it a unique and captivating destination for nature lovers.
