Located in the town of Oriental in Pamlico County, John Bond Town Beach is a small, protected beige sand beach with a few rocky portions.  The beach is located along the shores of the Neuse River and has a beautiful backdrop of several oceanfront homes and coastal vegetation, adding allure to its beauty, which together provides incredible Instagram-worthy views.

John Bond Town Beach does not have a lifeguard but offers many other amenities, including restrooms, picnic areas, shaded picnic tables, a barbecue grill facility, and trash cans.


John Bond Town Beach offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, fishing, picnicking, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking.  If you are planning to go into the water, it is a naturally sheltered bay, making it a safe swimming area.  However, we recommend being careful, as water is known to have many rocky bottoms.  The water near the beach is shallow, making it ideal for kayaks, canoes, and small boats.  If you enjoy fishing, you may catch minnows, crabs, and turtles.  This beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter experience, as it sees fewer visitors than other nearby beaches.  Dogs are allowed if they are on a leash, and it is open from sunrise until sunset.

John Bond Town Beach does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.


Getting to John Bond Town Beach is easy - the beach has street parking spots located at 1002 Neuse Drive, which provides easy access to the beach.

There are many attractions near John Bond Town Beach.  Oriental's History Museum is a very small museum that provides interesting insight into the history and culture of the little town of Oriental through exhibits, artifacts, and related memorabilia.  Lou Mac Park is a small riverfront park that offers several amenities, including a fishing pier, picnic tables, shaded areas, and the famous white Adirondack chairs, "Dancing Chairs." Oriental Town Dock is a popular spot for boaters and offers many amenities, including fuel, electricity, water, nearby shops, restaurants, and transient slips for those traveling through the area.  It also hosts many events and activities that celebrate maritime culture.  Edward D. Lupton Mini-Park is a small park that offers many amenities, including a large playground with swing sets, tennis courts, and a parking lot.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Nightmare Factory Haunted Attraction features four haunted houses, a dark maze, a rage room, themed galleries, and many interesting 3D shows.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants within a two-minute drive of John Bond Town Beach.  The Silos Restaurant serves soups, salads, pasta, calzones, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Ricks NC BBQ serves amazing soups, salads, seafood, beef, meat, and poultry dishes.  Toucan Grill & Fresh Bar serves delicious soups, salads, ribs, steaks, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Gary's Down East Seafood serves soups, oysters, burgers, sandwiches, ribs, shrimp, scallops, crabcake, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.   If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Brantley's Village Restaurant serves eggs, omelets, waffles, French toast, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.

If you are looking for a hotel near John Bond Town Beach, there are many great options nearby.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 4-Star Courtyard by Marriott New Bern is 36 minutes away by car and offers many amenities including an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a restaurant.  A more affordable hotel is the 3-Star DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New Bern Riverfront, which offers a few amenities, including an outdoor pool, a fitness center, a restaurant, and complimentary breakfast.  Another moderately priced option is the 3-Star SpringHill Suites by Marriott New Bern, which has many amenities including an indoor pool, a fitness room, a hot tub, a convenience store, a restaurant, and complimentary breakfast.  A more reasonably priced option is the 3-Star Aerie Bed & Breakfast, which offers a few amenities including a lounge, a courtyard, a spa, and complimentary breakfast.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, the 3-Star SpringHill Suites by Marriott New Bern offers many amenities including an indoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, a 24-hour convenience store, and complimentary breakfast.
