Overview

Located in the town of Southampton, Coopers Beach - also known as Cooper’s Beach - is a large and popular beach with light brown sand and coastal vegetation on Long Island. Sand dunes are also present near this beach. Coopers Beach has been named the 49th Best Beach in the Top 50 Beaches in the United States list in 2022 by Randall Kaplan, the world's foremost beach expert who is known as "Mr. Beach.” Coopers Beach has a relaxed ambiance, along with a beautiful background of oceanfront residential homes. 

Amenities

Coopers Beach has lifeguards on weekends between Memorial Day weekend and June 20th. From June 20th to Labor Day Lifeguards are stationed on the beach daily. Coopers Beach has many other amenities including (available on a seasonal basis - generally between Memorial Day and Labor Day), concession stands, restrooms, showers, and rental facilities for beach umbrellas and beach chairs. 

Activities

Coopers Beach offers many activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, fishing, swimming, surfing, skimboarding, paddleboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, surf-skiing, and boating. If you are planning to go into the water near Coopers Beach, we recommend being careful as it is known to have unpredictable rip currents. If you are planning to fish in the water near Coopers Beach, we recommend ensuring compliance with the local fishing regulations. Depending on the time of the year, you can see many kinds of animals in the water near this beach including whales and dolphins. The Southampton Cultural Center seasonally sponsors exciting concerts on Coopers Beach. The beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Long Island shoreline and the Atlantic Ocean.

Parking

Getting to Coopers Beach is easy - the entrance for the beach is present near 268 Meadow Lane, and a parking lot is also available nearby. It is important to note that you need to pay 50$ for a parking permit in order to park at the Coopers Beach parking lot. You can either purchase this permit near the Coopers Beach entrance. As an alternative way, you can also send a letter to Southampton Village Hall for purchasing the parking permits. If you are planning to contact Southampton Village Hall via mail, we recommend visiting the town of Southampton’s official website for more information regarding the contact details.    

Attractions

There are many attractions near Coopers Beach. Southampton History Museum offers a unique insight into the interesting history of the town of Southampton and its surrounding areas. The museum also has intriguing historical exhibits and it preserves many nearby historical buildings including a 19th-century paint shop, an 1825 barn, and an 1830 schoolhouse. The museum also offers interesting educational programs. The Parrish Art Museum was founded in the late 19th century and has over 3,000 artworks. This museum also has paintings and artworks made by eminent artists including John Chamberlain, Elizabeth Peyton, William Merritt Chase, and Lee Krasner. If you are looking for another attraction near Coopers Beach, Water Mill Museum is set in an exquisite 18th-century building. This museum has interesting exhibitions on local history. In addition, the museum also has a water-powered grist mill and a beautiful colonial garden.

Restaurants

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Coopers Beach. 75 Main is an upscale restaurant which serves amazing gourmet dishes which display culinary influences from a variety of regions including Asia, the Caribbean, and Italy. Saaz Indian Cuisine is an Indian restaurant that serves excellent biryanis, qormas, and chicken tikka masala. If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near Coopers Beach, La Hacienda Mexican Grill offers amazing dishes for breakfast and lunch including tacos, burritos, and quesadillas.

Hotels

If you are looking for a hotel near Coopers Beach, there are many great nearby options. The 5-Star Topping Rose House is a 20-minute drive away and is set in a 19th-century building that has Greek Revival-style architecture. The hotel offers many amenities including a restaurant with a terrace, a spa, a gym, an outdoor pool, and a complimentary breakfast. As another upscale option, the 4-Star Baron’s Cove is 29 minutes away by car and offers many amenities including a restaurant with a patio, a bar with firepits, a gym, tennis courts, an outdoor saltwater pool with bar service, yoga classes, a bike rental service, and complimentary breakfast and beach shuttle service. A more affordable hotel is the 3-Star Southampton Inn which has Tudor-style architecture. This hotel offers many amenities including a library with a fireplace and a piano, complimentary beach shuttle service, a croquet lawn, a tennis court, a seasonal pool, a children’s playroom, and a restaurant.
