Gibson Beach(Gibson Lake Beach)

Located in the village of Sagaponack in the town of Southampton in Suffolk County, Gibson Beach is a small beige sand beach.  The beach is positioned on the eastern end of Long Island and has a beautiful backdrop of many oceanfront homes, protected dunes, and coastal vegetation, which together provide incredible views.

Gibson Beach does not have lifeguards or any amenities, so plan your trip accordingly.

Gibson Beach offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, and fishing.  If you are planning to go into the water, it is an ideal spot to swim, as the waves are usually calm.  However, we recommend being careful, as the water is known to have unpredictable rip currents.  It is a perfect spot for windsurfing due to its frequently windy weather.  Gibson Beach is ideal for visitors looking for a serene experience, as this beach sees fewer visitors than other nearby beaches.  Dogs are allowed if they are on a leash, and it is open from sunrise until sunset.

Gibson Beach does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Gibson Beach is easy - the beach has a paid parking lot located at 239 Gibson Lane, which provides easy access to the beach.

Gibson Beach is an ideal spot for enjoying the sunset over the vast Atlantic Ocean.

There are many attractions near Gibson Beach.  Bridge Gardens is a botanical garden spread over 5 acres and is home to a wide variety of native and non-native perennials, annuals, shrubs, and trees, a vegetable garden, a large rose garden, and a unique 4-quadrant herb garden. In addition, visitors can enjoy self-guided tours and educational programs.  Sagg Swamp Preserve is home to a freshwater stream that runs through the wild swamp and dense forest, which is protected by a weir.  The preserve plays a crucial role in protecting and conserving the native biodiversity and providing habitat for various plant and animal species.  South Fork Natural History Museum & Nature Center aims to provide interesting insight into the flora, fauna, geology, and natural heritage of the region through interesting educational programs, workshops, field trips, and events.  John Steinbeck Waterfront Park is positioned on the shores of Sag Harbor Bay and offers many amenities, including a paved path, benches, picnic areas, picnic tables, a barbecue grill facility, a large playground, a boardwalk, a fishing pier, and a bandstand. The park hosts many events and musical concerts throughout the year.  The Bridgehampton Museum is a small museum that aims to provide unique insight into the history, culture, and natural heritage of Bridgehampton and the surrounding areas through exhibits, artifacts, and related memorabilia.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants within a seven-minute drive of Gibson Beach.  Almond is an upscale restaurant that serves incredible salads, steaks, seafood, meat, poultry dishes, and desserts.  Elaia Estiatorio serves amazing Greek cuisine. Pierre's offers an outdoor seating area and serves soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta, pizzas, bruschetta, spaghetti, risottos, and desserts.  Bobby Van's Steakhouse serves salads, steaks, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, meat, pork, beef, and poultry dishes.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Townline BBQ serves sandwiches, burgers, seafood, meat, beef, pork, and poultry dishes.

If you are looking for a hotel near Gibson Beach, there are many great options nearby.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 5-Star Topping Rose House is eight minutes away by car and offers many amenities, including an outdoor pool, a spa, a sauna, a fitness center, and a restaurant.  A more affordable hotel is the 4-Star A Room at the Beach, which has several amenities, including an outdoor pool, a sauna, and a garden.  Another moderately priced option is the 4-Star The Maidstone, which has many amenities including a restaurant, a spa, a garden with seating areas, and complimentary breakfast.   A more reasonably priced option is the beachfront 3-Star Wainscott Inn, which offers a few amenities including whirlpool tubs and complimentary breakfast.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, the beachfront 3-Star Mill House Inn has a few amenities including a courtyard and a complimentary breakfast.
