Baker's Beach Club

Located in the town of Westport in Bristol County, Baker’s Beach Club is a two-mile-long and wide private beige sand beach.  The beach is adjacent to the famous Horseneck Beach, has a beautiful backdrop of many beach huts along the shores of Buzzards Bay, and offers incredible views.

Baker’s Beach Club offers many fun activities, including sunbathing, beachcombing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, building sandcastles, and picnicking.  If you are planning to go into the water, swimming is allowed, but we recommend being careful as water is known to have unpredictable rip currents.  If you enjoy snorkeling, you may explore an array of marine life, making it a fascinating spot for nature enthusiasts.  The water near the beach is shallow, making it ideal for kayaks, canoes, and small boats.  Baker’s Beach Club is an ideal spot for windsurfing due to its frequently windy weather.  Depending on the time of the year, visitors can spot dolphins, manatees, and coastal birds.    It is ideal for visitors looking for a serene experience, as this beach sees fewer visitors than other nearby beaches.  Dogs are welcome on the beach, and it is open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.

There are many attractions near Baker’s Beach Club.  Sakonnet Lighthouse is a 66-foot-high historic lighthouse built in 1884 that is positioned on the eastern side of the Sakonnet River.  It serves as a critical navigational aid for ships in the region, guiding them safely past the eastern coast of Little Compton.  Buttonwood Park is spread over 100 acres and recognized as the most-visited public park in the city. This dog-friendly park offers many amenities, including a pond, walking trails, gardens, a large playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, a baseball court, and a zoo.  In addition, the park hosts many interesting events, festivals, and outdoor concerts.  New Bedford Whaling Museum has a gallery that displays life-sized whale skeletons and an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, and related memorabilia that provide intriguing insight into the history and heritage of the whaling industry of the region.  In addition, it hosts interesting educational programs and events for all age groups throughout the year.
