Located at the northern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene in Idaho, near the town of Coeur d'Alene, Blackwell Island Recreation Site - also known as BLM’s Blackwell Island Recreation Site, Blackwell Island RV Park or Blackwell Island RV Park Coeur d'Alene - has a small beige hard-packed sand beach.  This site is privately owned and managed as a marina and RV park spread over 34 acres, offering numerous recreational options to visitors.  It is surrounded by lush green forests, including wildflowers, ferns, and ancient oak trees, offering spectacular views.  Blackwell Island Recreation Site is promoted as an ecotourism destination, encouraging sustainable tourism practices to preserve the natural beauty, flora, and fauna.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Blackwell Island Recreational Site.  Bardenay Restaurant & Distillery - Coeur d'Alene serves salads, bruschetta, cheeses, soup, salads, burgers, sandwiches, seafood, meat, poultry, and vegetarian dishes.  The Cedars Floating Restaurant is an upscale restaurant that serves amazing salads, steaks, prime ribs, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Azteca Southwest Grill serves incredible soups, salads, fajitas, chimichangas, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, tamales, enchiladas, nachos, tostadas, seafood, and meat dishes.  Sushi I serves amazing salads, sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and seafood.  Our Thai House serves amazing salads, soups, curries, rolls, satays, noodles, rice, pork, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant nearby, Chinatown Restaurant serves incredible noodles, fried rice, rolls, wontons, soups, pork, meat, seafood, and poultry dishes.

If you are looking for hotels near Blackwell Island Recreational Site, there are many great options nearby.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 4-Star Blackwell Hotel is four minutes away by car and offers many amenities, including a hot tub, a gazebo, outdoor loungers, outdoor heaters, a pool table, a game room, a bar, and a dining room.  A more affordable hotel is the 4-Star The Coeur d'Alene Resort, which offers many amenities, including an indoor pool, a spa, a fitness center, hot tubs, a golf course, bars, and many restaurants.  Another moderately priced option is the 3-Star Greenbriar Inn, which has several amenities, including a hot tub, two fireplaces, a bar, and a restaurant.   A more reasonably priced option is the 3-Star Staybridge Suites Coeur d'Alene, an IHG hotel, which offers several amenities, including an indoor pool, a hot tub, a barbecue grill facility, and complimentary breakfast.   If you are looking for another affordable hotel, the 3-Star Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn offers a few amenities, including a hot tub, an indoor heated pool with a whirlpool spa, a fitness room, and a restaurant.

Blackwell Island Recreation Site offers many amenities, including seasonal lifeguards, a marina, boat launches, a beach equipment rental facility, picnic shelters, picnic tables, hiking trails, paid group picnic pavilions, a well-equipped RV park with 182 sites, and restaurants.

Blackwell Island Recreational Site offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, camping, boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing, fishing, wildlife viewing, picnicking, and photography.  If you plan to go into the water, the waves are usually calm, making it a perfect spot for swimming.  The water near the beach is shallow and calm, ideal for canoes, kayaks, and small boats.  Blackwell Island has a large public boat launch, popularly known as Blackwell Island Boat Launch, where visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, and other summer recreational activities.  If you enjoy camping, Blackwell Island Recreational Site has a well-equipped RV park with 182 sites and spacious pull-through sites that can accommodate large RVs, motorhomes, and trailers, providing facilities like full hookups, Wi-Fi, restrooms, a picnic area, water, cable TV, laundry services, showers, fire pits, propane, a mini-store, and a rally room.

If you enjoy fishing, you may catch a wide variety of fish, including rainbow trout, Kokanee salmon, brown trout, cutthroat trout, yellow perch, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass. It hosts many interesting events, including fishing tournaments, boat shows, and social gatherings.  It is known for its spectacular views of Lake Coeur d'Alene and the surrounding mountains, which make it a famous spot for taking the best Blackwell Island Recreational Site photos.  Dogs are allowed if they are on a leash, and the beach is open from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m.  It is worth noting that Blackwell Island Recreational Site is typically open seasonally, from spring to early fall, depending on the weather.

Blackwell Island Recreation Site offers an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Blackwell Island Recreational Site is easy - the beach has a paid parking lot located at 867 S Marina Drive, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814, United States, which provides easy access to the beach.  

It is worth noting that Blackwell Island Recreational Site is open from just before Memorial Day Weekend to mid-October due to fluctuating river water levels. Visitors have to pay fees of $6 per day, or you can buy a seasonal pass for $40.

Blackwell Island is named after John M. Blackwell, an early settler in the area who played a significant role in the development of Coeur d'Alene.

There are many attractions near Blackwell Island Recreational Site.  The North Idaho Centennial Trail is a scenic 23-mile paved trail that stretches from the Idaho-Washington state border through Coeur d'Alene and extends to Higgens Point along the eastern shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene.  Visitors can enjoy many fun activities, including biking, running, walking, and inline skating.  This well-maintained trail has various amenities, including restrooms, water fountains, and picnic areas.  McEuen Park is a dog-friendly lakefront park that offers many amenities, including a playground, a splash pad, walking trails, a large pavilion for events, and a Veterans Memorial.  The Coeur d'Alene Resort is a luxury resort located on the northern shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene that offers a variety of amenities, including a unique 3,300-foot-long floating boardwalk, several high-end restaurants and bars, a floating golf course, a spa, and a shopping arcade.  In addition, visitors can enjoy many water sports activities, including boating, jet skiing, parasailing, and lake cruises.  Beacon Point is a tranquil and picturesque destination on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene that offers several outdoor activities, including swimming, sunbathing, boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, hiking, watching wildlife, picnicking, cycling, and photography.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Tubbs Hill Nature Trails is a network of scenic hiking trails along Lake Coeur d'Alene, with the main trail being a 2.2-mile loop that circles the hill, offering incredible views of the lake and access to several smaller side trails, making it a great spot for families, casual walkers, and experienced hikers alike.
