Located in the town of Waimea, Lucy Wright Beach Park has a small and narrow beach situated at the mouth of the Waimea River. Also known as Waimea Beach, Lucy Wright Beach Park is spread across 4.4 acres and is a family-friendly spot. The sand at this beach is a mixture of white, black, and green sand. Lucy Wright Beach Park was named after the first native Hawaiian schoolteacher Lucy Wright and is a historical beach as it is the place where Captain James Cook first set foot in the Hawaiian Islands in 1778.
