Overview
Located in the northeastern part of Oahu, Kaluanui Beach is a narrow beach that has light brown sand, a few pebbles, driftwood, and nearby trees and a seawall made of boulders. There are reefs near the northern and the southern ends of Kaluanui Beach. A stream called Kaluanui Stream flows through the beach - once this stream flows through Kaluanui Beach, it enters the Pacific Ocean.
Amenities
Kaluanui Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities except a nearby grassy area and a bench, so please plan accordingly. Dogs on leashes are allowed in portions of Kaluanui Beach which are below the high tide line.

Kaluanui Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, swimming, beachcombing, picnicking, fishing, wildlife watching, snorkeling, surfing, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, skimboarding, kayaking, canoeing, surf-skiing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, boating, paddleboarding, and wakeboarding. The water near Kaluanui Beach usually has gentle waves, which makes it ideal for beginner swimmers. In addition, the water near the central portion of Kaluanui Beach has a sandy bottom, which makes water activities relatively easy here. However, if you are planning to swim or surf near Kaluanui Beach, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves. In addition, the water here is also known to occasionally have high levels of microbial contamination and inorganic pollutants.
Depending on the time of the year, you can see many kinds of animals in the water near Kaluanui Beach including sea turtles, migrating whales between December and May, and Hawaiian monk seals - it is important to note that sea turtles and Hawaiian monk seals are protected under a law named the Endangered Species Act of 1973, and harming them can result in a fine of up to $50,000 and possible imprisonment. Getting to Kaluanui Beach is easy - the stairs to the beach are located along Hawaii Route 83 (which is a part of Kamehameha Highway), to the south of its intersection with Puhuli Street. There are free street parking areas near the beach. We recommend visiting this beach during low tide because during high tide it can get completely submerged.

There are many attractions near Kaluanui Beach. Polynesian Cultural Center is an immensely popular cultural attraction that has eight recreated traditional Polynesian villages - each of these villages represents a different portion of Polynesian culture including Hawaiian culture, Samoan culture, Tahitian culture, and Maori culture. In addition, the Polynesian Cultural Center also hosts fun shows that offer a unique insight into the vibrant cultures of Polynesia including Hawaiian luau feasts and a multicultural program named Hā–Breath of Life - you can attend these shows for an extra charge. Hau’ula Loop Trail is a hiking-and-biking trail that offers amazing views of Kaipapau Valley and the town of Hauula. You can also explore the interesting biodiversity of northeastern Oahu and you can also see many kinds of native plant varieties here including lama, hoawa, and akia. Maunawila Heiau is an approximately nine-acre historical site that has a heiau (which is an ancient Hawaiian temple) - this heiau is theorized by historians to be a heiau ho'ola (a healing heiau). This site offers visitors a unique insight into the local cultural and natural history. If you are looking for another attraction near Kaluanui Beach, the Maakua Ridge Trail (also called the Ma’akua Ridge Trail) is another hiking trail that offers hikers a unique way to explore the vivid northern Oahu landscape and local biodiversity. The trail also offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Oahu shoreline and the Pacific Ocean.

Seven Brothers - Laie offers amazing burgers and it also serves amazing salads, fries, and seafood. Shrimp Shackoffers amazing seafood, especially shrimp-based dishes - the restaurant also offers steaks, hot dogs, and chili. The 4-Star Turtle Bay Resort offers many amenities including a spa, two pools (including one with a waterslide), two golf courses, seven restaurants and bars, and two hot tubs. A more affordable hotel is the 3-Star Courtyard by Marriott Oahu North Shore which offers many amenities including an exercise room, a hot tub, a pool, and a bistro.
