Kuliouou Beach Park offers many fun activities, including sunbathing, beachcombing, wildlife watching, picnicking, fishing, basketball, swimming, surfing, paddleboarding, boating, canoeing, kayaking, and surf-skiing. The water near Kuliouou Beach is shallow and fairly calm, making it ideal for beginner swimmers, paddleboarders, and canoers. However, if you are planning to swim in the water near Kuliouou Beach Park, we recommend being careful as the water is known to be extremely murky and it also has unpredictable rip currents - the primary reason behind the water’s murkiness here is a nearby sediment-rich stream which flows into the Pacific Ocean near this beach. The water near Kuliouou Beach Park also has reefs, which make aquatic recreational activities difficult here. Despite the calm nature of the water near Kuliouou Beach Park, surfers launch their surfboards from this park to paddle to locally famous surf spots situated on the outer edge of the reefs - these surf spots include Manatan’s (which is also known as Turtles) and Tunas. Kuliouou Beach Park is popular among local fishermen as it is a great fishing spot and you can catch lots of fish and mussels here. If you plan to fish in the water near Kuliouou Beach Park, we recommend following the local fishing regulations. Kuliouou Beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of a nearby lagoon named Paiko Lagoon, a volcanic crater named Koko Head, the Kuliouou Ridge, the Pacific Ocean, and the rugged south-eastern Oahu shoreline, especially during sunsets.
