Par Beach(Higher Town Bay Beach)

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Par Beach.  Adam's Fish & Chips is known for serving excellent fish-and-chips, along with a variety of other dishes including lobster scampi and burgers.  Cloudesley Shovell Restaurant – Karma St. Martin's offers excellent gourmet dishes prepared with modern culinary influences including seafood, Cornish pasty, smoked duck, burgers, and sandwiches.  The Ruin Beach Cafe is one the nearby island of Tresco and offers interesting Mediterranean-inspired dishes including pizzas, pasta, braised pork cheeks, aubergine parmigiana, and pork legs.  Polreath Tea Room is a tea room that is known for serving refreshing English-style tea, along with a variety of dishes including seafood, eggs, and toast – it also offers a variety of excellent tea-time desserts including scones, cakes, and cookies.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant nearby, The Island Bakery is a cafe and bakery that offers a variety of excellent dishes including breads, local Cornish pasties, tarts, pies, rolls, and pizzas.

If you are looking for hotels near Par Beach, there are many great options at St. Martin’s Island and the nearby island of Tresco.  The 4-Star Karma St. Martin’s offers many amenities including a lounge, a bar, a spa, a jetty, an art gallery, and a restaurant.  Another great upscale New Inn – it is located on the nearby island of Tresco and it offers many amenities including multiple pools, a restaurant, and access to nearby spa – The Times listed this beach as one of the best 100 places to stay in the United Kingdom in 2024.  Another great hotel is the Sea Garden Cottages that is also on the island of Tresco and offers many amenities including a spa, gardens, multiple pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, and steam rooms.  Another great hotel is the Polreath Guest House is a guest house that offers many amenities including a sundeck, a lounge, a garden, and outdoor sitting areas.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby accommodation option, St. Martin’s campsite is a campsite that offers a fun oceanfront tent camping experience – it also offers a variety of amenities including restrooms, showers, a camp store, and gas cylinders.

Although Par Town Beach does not have lifeguards, this beach has a couple of other amenities including rental facilities for kayaks and a few nearby restrooms.

Par Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, swimming, paddleboarding, surf-skiing, jet-skiing, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching.

This beach is ideal for beginner swimmers because the azure water here is known to usually have calm waters.  If you are planning to swim, kayak, or paddleboard here, we recommend being careful because the water here can have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.

Par Beach does not offer wheelchair access to visitors with disabilities.

Getting to Par Beach is easy – the beach is easily accessible from Higher Town and there is a small free dirt parking lot here.  In addition, there are multiple free street parking spaces nearby.

As an alternate travel option, you can also visit this beach by boat – you can reach the ferry port of St. Martin’s from the nearby islands of St. Mary, Tresco, and Bryher.  The ferry boats to St Martin’s usually cost between £6 and £7 and the ferries usually start from 8 am in the morning and end at around 4 in the afternoon –  you can visit the website of the St. Mary’s Boatmen Association  and the Tresco Boat Services for more information.  Once you reach St. Martin’s ferry port, you can easily walk to Par Beach.

If you like to take pictures with excellent views, Par Beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the English Channel, the St Martin shoreline, and a few nearby islets collectively called the Eastern Isles.

There are many attractions near Par Beach.  St Martin’s Vineyard and Winery is a vineyard that produces white, rose, and red wines – you can learn about wine making through guided tours of the vineyard’s premises and it also offers a wine shop.  St Martin’s Church is an Anglican church that was built in 1683 and it is dedicated to the Christian Saint Martin – this interesting church offers some beautiful stained glass windows and it also has some graves of sailors from World War I.  The Daymark is a coastal navigation beacon that is one of the oldest beacons on the British Isles and it was built in 1683.  It is painted in red and white bands and it also has an old grave and ruins nearby, which offers an insight into local history – the area near this beacon also offers some amazing Instagram-worthy views of the coastline.  Scilly Flowers is a flower farm that produces many varieties of beautiful flowers and it is particularly known for its scented narcissi flowers.  You can purchase many interesting flowers from here and you can also get an informative tour of the flower farm.  If you are looking for another attraction near Par Beach, Great Bay Beach is a beach that offers some fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, hiking, and wildlife watching.  In addition, you can explore the vibrant coastal landscape and biodiversity here through hiking trails – in addition, you can also enjoy amazing views of St Martin’s shoreline and the English Channel.  Another interesting attraction that is on the nearby island of Tresco is the Tresco Abbey Garden that was built in the 19th century and has 20000 plants.
