Located 13 kilometers east of the town of Albufeira along the southern coast of Portugal in the Algarve region, Praia da Rocha Baixinha - also known as Praia dos Tomates (Tomato Beach) - is a one-kilometer-long and 100-meter-wide golden sand beach. This beach is commonly known as Praia dos Tomates (Tomato Beach) since there used to be a tomato plantation nearby, and the owners of those fields used to sell their tomatoes on the beach. The beach is positioned at the eastern end of Praia da Falesia and is adjacent to the marina and resort of Vilamoura. The beach is divided into two main sections, namely, Rocha Baixinha Oeste to the east, which is next to the mouth of the Quarteira River, and Rocha Baixinha-Leste to the west, near the resort of Vilamoura. It has a beautiful backdrop of many red sandstone cliffs and many oceanfront buildings, including upscale restaurants and hotels, which together provide Instagram-worthy views of the vast North Atlantic Ocean. Praia da Rocha Baixinha has been awarded the Blue Flag certification due to its cleanliness and water quality standards.
