Located 13 kilometers east of the town of Albufeira along the southern coast of Portugal in the Algarve region, Praia da Falesia is a beautiful six-kilometer-long golden sand beach, making it the largest beach in the Central Algarve region. The beach has been recognized as the best beach in Portugal and the third-best beach in Europe. It has won numerous awards over the years and has made it to the list of the Top 25 Beaches in the World for its spectacular natural beauty and unique geological features.
This award-winning iconic beach begins at Barranco das Belharucas Beach and extends to the resort of Vilamoura, with an amazing backdrop of 40-meter-high striking red sandstone cliffs with pine trees on top and beautiful flowers at the base, including sea daffodils, sea bindweed, spiny thrift, Cretan trefoil, and sea holly, which together provide Instagram-worthy views of the vast North Atlantic Ocean. The beach is mainly divided into two sections: the eastern end of the beach is popularly known as Alfamar, named after the Alfamar Beach & Sport Resort Praia da Falesia, located towards Vilamoura, while the western portion of the beach is named Açoteias, which is near the luxurious Epic Sana Algarve Beach Hotel. Praia da Falesia has been awarded the Blue Flag certification due to its cleanliness and water quality standards.
