Located on the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula in the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island, Hahei Beach is a one-mile-long, immensely popular white sand beach with a few pink shells.  The beach is positioned on the shores of the famous Mercury Bay, and it has a spectacular backdrop of limestone cliffs, pohutukawa trees, forests, and several oceanfront buildings, which together offer Instagram-worthy views of Te Pare Point, Whale Cave, Motueka Island, and the vast Pacific Ocean.  Also, Hahei Beach is the gateway to Cathedral Cove, New Zealand, one of New Zealand’s most iconic natural attractions.  This beach is part of the Hahei Marine Reserve, which is a protected area and is promoted as an ecotourism destination, encouraging sustainable tourism practices that preserve its natural environment and marine life.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Hahei Beach.  Kaizen at Go Vino serves amazing seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  The Vessel serves delicious salads, burgers, tacos, sandwiches, meat, seafood, and poultry dishes.  Stoked Bar & Grill serves delicious pizzas, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Salt Old Profile serves incredible pizzas, pasta, and Italian dishes.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant nearby, Smitty’s Sports Bar And Grill serves amazing burgers, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.

If you are looking for a hotel in Hahei Beach, there are many great options nearby.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 4-Star Hahei Beach Resort is two minutes away by car and offers many amenities, including an outdoor seating area, comfortable rooms, hot tubs, and a dining room.  A more affordable Frankston Beach accommodation is the 4-Star Tatahi Lodge Beach Resort, Hahei, which offers a few amenities, including a heated outdoor pool, a sundeck, a tennis court, and a kids' playground.  Another moderately priced option is the 4-Star Marina Park Apartments, which has several amenities, including an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, and a restaurant.  A more reasonably priced option is the 3-Star Baileys at the Beach Motel, which offers many amenities, including comfortable rooms, a barbecue grill facility, picnic tables, and an outdoor seating area.  If you are looking for another affordable hotel, The Church Accommodation Hahei is located close to the beach and offers a few amenities, including a kitchen and barbecue grill facility.

Hahei Beach, New Zealand, does not have lifeguards but has many other amenities, restrooms, shaded areas, nearby hiking trails, restaurants, hotels, holiday homes, and campgrounds.

Hahei Beach offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, scuba diving, banana boating, hiking, kayaking, fishing, picnicking, and photography. If you plan to go into the water, this naturally sheltered bay makes it a safe area to swim.  The water near the beach is calm and shallow, which is ideal for canoes, kayaks, and small boats to explore the nearby sea caves, the iconic Cathedral Cove, and other interesting rock formations.  If you enjoy snorkeling, the reefs, caves, archways, and soft sediments near the beach provide the ideal habitat for a variety of plants, fish, mollusks, and crustaceans.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby Coromandel Cathedral Cove Walk, which offers unique insights into the local biodiversity. If you want to enjoy camping, you may book a nearby campsite that offers an amazing camping experience near the beach.  Hahei Beach is known for its natural beauty, white sandy shore, and turquoise waters, making it a perfect destination on the Coromandel Peninsula.  Dogs are allowed if they are on a leash, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Visitors can enjoy many recreational activities, including fishing, boating, and marine tours.  Shakespeare Cliff Lookout is a beautiful vantage point near Cooks Beach on the Coromandel Peninsula that offers panoramic views, particularly stunning at sunrise or sunset.  There is a well-maintained track leading to the lookout, making it an easy and accessible activity for most visitors.

Mercury Bay Museum is dedicated to preserving the rich history of Mercury Bay and the surrounding region. It has a gallery that showcases a variety of artifacts, photographs, and documents that offer a glimpse into the lives of the region's indigenous Maori people and the maritime history of the region.  In addition, you can learn about Captain James Cook’s 1769 voyage to Mercury Bay, where he observed the Transit of Mercury and interacted with the local Maori.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Fun Zone Adventure & Family Park, formerly known as Combat Zone, is a family-friendly amusement park that offers a wide range of thrilling activities and experiences for visitors of all ages, including outdoor laser tag, paintball, archery, soccer golf, argo rides, quad bike rides, and shooting.
