Overview

Located in the town of Casa Fortuna in the municipality of Los Cabos, in the state of Baja California Sur, Playa Cabo Real - also known as Buenos Aires Beach - is a 1.5-kilometer-long famous beige sand beach with many rocky portions. The beach is positioned on the tourist corridor along the coastline of the Sea of Cortez (also known as the Gulf of California) on the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula. It has a beautiful background of rugged desert landscapes, coastal vegetation, several beachfront restaurants, condominiums, opulent hotels, and luxurious resorts, which together offer incredible views of the vast Pacific Ocean.

Playa Cabo Real offers many amenities, including seasonal lifeguards, restrooms, showers, a stone jetty, a beach equipment rental facility, shaded palapas, sun loungers, volleyball courts, beachfront restaurants, hotels, and two golf courses.

Activities

Playa Cabo Real offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, diving, building sandcastles, sea kayaking, paddleboarding, jet-skiing, walking, and rockpooling.  If you plan to go into the water, there is a designated safe swimming area near the stone jetty.  However, we recommend being cautious, as the water is known to have unpredictable rip currents.  Snorkelers and divers may spot an array of marine life, making it a fascinating spot for nature enthusiasts.   If you enjoy fishing, you may catch a variety of fish, including marlin, dorado, and tuna.   Depending on the time of year, visitors may spot humpback whales and gray whales in the water near the beach.   The beach is a perfect spot for windsurfing due to its frequently windy weather and great waves.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  It is perfect for visitors seeking a tranquil beach experience in the Casa Fortuna Cabo region.   Dogs are not allowed here, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Getting to Playa Cabo Real is easy - the beach has a small parking lot located near Km 21.5, Carretera Transpeninsular Km 21.5, Fracc. Cabo Real, 23400 San José del Cabo, which provides easy access to the beach.

Playa Cabo Real is home to some of the most prestigious golf courses in Mexico, including the Robert Trent Jones II-designed Cabo Real Golf Club which is open to the public, and the Jack Nicklaus-designed and private-member only El Dorado Golf & Beach Club.  Golf enthusiasts can enjoy stunning ocean views while playing a round on these world-class courses.

Attractions

There are many attractions near Playa Cabo Real.  Plaza Mijares is a historic square located in the heart of the city, surrounded by colonial-style buildings, shops, art galleries, restaurants, an open-air amphitheater, and an artisan market.  It hosts various cultural events, festivals, and performances, including live music, dance, art exhibitions, and traditional celebrations, throughout the year.  The San José Church, or Mission of San Jose del Cabo Anuiti, is one of the oldest churches in the Baja California Peninsula and showcases traditional Spanish colonial architecture, featuring whitewashed walls, a bell tower, and arched doorways.  It is recognized as a cultural heritage site by the Mexican government due to its historical and architectural significance.  Cabo San Lucas Marina is a waterfront recreational area on the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula with many amenities, including restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shops, a shopping mall, boutiques, and a promenade.  Visitors can enjoy many water sports activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, whale watching, sunset cruises, fishing charters, and luxury boat trips.  The marina also hosts numerous events and festivals, including fishing tournaments, boat shows, and concerts, that attract a large influx of visitors from around the world.  


Arch of Cabo San Lucas is a distinctive, rugged granite rock formation located at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, marking the meeting point of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez.  Visitors can take boat tours or private charters from Cabo San Lucas Marina to get up close to the arch.  Interestingly, it is one of the most popular and recognizable landmarks in Cabo San Lucas, and is often featured in postcards and advertisements promoting tourism in the region.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Estero San Jose is a protected reserve that is home to mangrove forests, wetlands, salt marshes, and a freshwater lagoon.  Visitors can explore the estuary's waters through guided eco-tours, kayak excursions, and birdwatching trips offered by local tour operators.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants on Playa Cabo Real.  Vela is a waterfront upscale restaurant on the beach that serves incredible Italian food, including seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Sea Grill at Las Ventanas is a beachfront restaurant located in the 5-Star Last Ventants hotel, and serves Mediterranean food, including salads, seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Comal is another beachfront award-winning restaurant that offers outdoor seating areas and serves incredible seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Mezcal serves amazing Mexican food, including salads, tortillas, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, meat, pork, and poultry dishes.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, El Ciruelo serves salads, soups, rib-eye steaks, seafood, pork, meat, and poultry dishes.
