Located in the city of Fort Pierce and named after famous environmental activist John Brook, John Brooks Beach is a 226-acre upland and wetland preserve. The beach offers two miles of beachfront dunes and seashore fishing along with a wooden ramped dune-crossover with covered viewing area. John Brooks Beach is peaceful and not crowded, making it a great vacation destination for families. There aren’t many amenities at John Brooks Beach, but it does have parking and wheelchair ramp.
The low waves at the beach make up for a good swimming environment. Fishing and birding are the most sought-after activity on the beach. After spending some time on the beach, we recommend driving two minutes to Bear Point Sanctuary, a 13-acre wetland preserve featuring a one-mile trail, an elevated observation platform, two covered picnic tables, and one 450-foot fishing pier.
If you get hungry, there aren’t any options on John Brooks Beach, but you will find great options within a 17-minute drive.
